iOS App Store temporarily down for some users (UPDATE)

UPDATE: It would appear that normal service has now been resumed.

If you've been trying to download apps or games onto your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch without any joy over the past couple of hours, hopefully you can derive some comfort from the fact that you are not alone. According to Apple's System Status update page, it's noted that the App Store 'may be unavailable for some users', though presumably, the issue should soon be cleared up by Cupertino's engineers.

Aside from the standard App Store for iOS devices, the corresponding hubs for Mac and Apple TV have also been hit by these issues. Fortunately, the technical hitch doesn't appear to have affected users en masse as yet, and hopefully, all will be remedied in the near future. Alas, those affected will have to survive on their rations of already-downloaded apps until then. Oh, the humanity!

Have you been hit by the outages? Let us know in the comments.

I'll be happy when the store goes down in September, then back up with all the new Apple goodies for sale!

A co-worker had his iPhone 6 mysteriously lock up on him while it was charging the night before was totally unusable. He had to wait in the apple store for almost 3 hours before they got around to resetting his password. Spent 2 hours on the phone directly with apple headquarters and then they hesitantly got around to fixing it for him. He is sooo pissed at apple right now...I think he's ready to jump over to Android just because of apple's poor customer service. When he asked me what customer service is like for Android phones I told him I have no idea... because I've never needed assistance with my phones (except for when/if the carrier network goes down for whatever reason).
