Four men grab $27K worth of iPhone and MacBook units from crowded Apple Store

What is being described as a "small fortune" in Apple products was stolen by a brazen group of thieves who made off with their haul in the middle of a crowded Apple Store. The four hooded robbers grabbed 26 items worth $27,000 in just seconds this past Saturday. The store robbed was the one located inside the Fashion Fair Mall in Fresno, California.

Surveillance video, which you can view at the top of this article, reveals the swiftness of the theft. The four men enter the Apple Store as shoppers freeze in shock and horror. They grab everything they can and run out of the store. The Fresno Police reported that among the purloined products were various Apple iPhone models including the iPhone 6, iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and the iPhone X. The phones, along with other stolen merchandise like MacBooks, were tethered to the display tables. However, the robbers were able to yank the products loose from the cables used to tether the devices.

One customer tried to block the exit, but was knocked down by one of the robbers. Police say that they are looking for five men including a getaway driver, ranging in age from 16 to 18. Police suspect that the gang could be responsible for other burglaries in the region where the same tactics were employed.

Age ranges from 16 to 18, and they're called men? Oh well, what do I know?!

That’s the important thing from this article and video to you?

And you ask if it's the most important thing to me, why? Because I didn't go shouting "theft is bad" on the comment section?

"grand theft" ... 26 phones and laptops and it's already "grand theft". At least nobody got hurt in the process.

I would figure Apple Stores have systems in place to deal with petty theft. Someone pocketing a display iPhone.

They can install win10 on those macbook, and for iPhone, Apple will disable them. (or probably they'll bother to track and catch them)

Are you telling me Apple can't track these things? All display models, all hypothetically on at the time, phones with GPS that I'm assuming the didn't turn off right away. And nothing?

They are, those IMEI numbers will be blocked and iCloud locked. The iDevices should be fairly useless other than for parts while the laptops probably will stop working because of defective keyboards anyway.

that fact that just 26 of Apple's items can equate to $27000 is another issue here

MacBooks and iPhone Xs I’m assuming. Could hit that number easily. I doubt they went for the SEs or 8s. Don’t see how it’s an issue.

I was figuring the other way. That 26 items only added up to $27,000.

And 26 Note 8's can equate to nearly $25,000 (the cost of Note 8 in this country is equal to $950 USD. Math is hard. Congratulations. slash s.
