Would you buy an expensive limited edition phone like the Porsche Design Mate 9?

Yesterday, the Chief Operations Officer of Porsche Design took the stage during the Huawei Mate 9 announcement, to present a limited edition of the phablet with an exclusive design. The COO clarified that smartphones are an important part of their electronics portfolio, and the partnership with a company like Huawei will help Porsche Design fulfill its handset dreams.

The unique Mate 9 version crafted in cooperation with the Germans has a 5.5" QHD display, curved symmetrically towards the sides, and is made of glass and metal. It is also quite the upgrade in terms of memory, as it sports 6 GB of RAM against the Mate 9's 4 GB, and 256 GB of storage from the box. The exclusive handset, however, will cost EUR 1395 when it lands, which translates to about $1550.

This is twice the regular Mate 9's pricing, but very similar to, say, the Porsche Design BlackBerry, or to Samsung's special edition flagships like the Galaxy S7 edge Batman-themed Injustice Edition. Needless to say we all want to be different and unique, and some even have money to do it, so there is some market out there for such limited series devices. That is why we wanted to ask you if you are willing to pay a premium for exclusive versions of popular handsets - tell us in the poll below, and list your motivations further down.
