Verizon now offers unlimited data plans for pre-paid subscribers
Verizon announced today that effective immediately, it will offer an unlimited data plan for its pre-paid customers. The price of the service is $80 a month and includes unlimited talk to Mexico and Canada, and unlimited text to over 200 international locations. The pre-paid unlimited plan streams video at up to 480p (DVD quality). Mobile hotspot and tethering usage is not included as part of the plan, and during times of heavy traffic your data could be prioritized behind other customers.

Verizon has now simplified its pre-paid offerings, and all of them include unlimited talk, text and data. When you have consumed all of the high speed data available for the month, your data speed is throttled to 128kbps until the next billing cycle begins. As Verizon notes (in quite an understatement), at that speed "functionality of some data applications, like streaming video or audio, may be impacted." The pre-paid plans include:

  • $40 a month-includes 2GB of high speed data. Pay on time and unused data will carryover to the next month.
  • $50 a month-includes 5GB of high speed data. Unused data will automatically carryover to the next month.
  • $70 a month-includes 10GB of high speed data. Unused data will automatically carryover to the next month.
  • $80 a month includes unlimited high speed data. Unused data will automatically carryover to the next month.

With pre-paid service, there is no credit check and activation fees are not applied.

I hate VZW. BUT, can everyone agree that this is the best deal in wireless now ??? Can I port my Sprint Galaxy S6 and S7 to VZW prepaid and have IDENTICAL service and coverage that VZW post paid receives??

Why don't you switch to T-mobile and 2 lines unlimited, taxes and fees included for 100? that 50 per line. Better deal IMO

may be a better deal financially but if he lives in an area similar to mine, t-mobile has crap coverage in my area.

AT&T has unlimited prepaid for $65. $60 if you do autopay dosen't sound like a good deal for VZW.

Does AT&T throttle the speeds on their prepay like they do on Cricket ?

It would be nice if Verizon could add some more mid-range phones to its prepaid line up. The Moto G has some new models and the Moto E. Some in the $200 dollar range. Not this company. You have to literally have to beg Verizon to do this. They have all the plans but not the phones to go along with it. Verizon has a good network but you have to break your neck to get the device you want to use on it. Why is it so hard for Verizon but easy for companies like Boost Mobile to add phones to their prepaid lineups. Boost Mobile has all kinds of sales and discounts. Not greedy Verizon. My other pet peeve about Verizon - They never do what the customer asks them to do. If I ask to transfer my services to a new address that is what I want. Not discounts and credits to change my service to a higher package so Verizon can profit from me and give me a higher bill. ADT, Directv and SafeCo understood my request and did not change my services or increase my bill. Only greedy Verizon does this. Who is overseeing this big conglomerate? Verizon gets away with too much!
