Unannounced Sony Xperia M5 and near bezel-less Xperia C5 Ultra smile for the camera

Unannounced Sony Xperia M5 and near bezel-less Xperia C5 Ultra smile for the camera
The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra is an unannounced Android smartphone that's expected to be officially unveiled next week, on August 3. Until then, though, we can already take a good look at the handset, thanks to numerous leaked photos revealed by Russian website Hi-tech@mail.ru.

The C5 Ultra has been photographed alongside the Xperia M5, another unannounced handset that Sony should showcase on August 3.

Sporting a 6-inch 1080p display, the Xperia C5 Ultra has very thin bezels (0.8 mm) on its left and right sides, this making it look quite attractive. The handset runs Android Lollipop, and should be powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz. Reportedly, the new smartphone comes with 13 MP rear and front cameras, both offering LED flashes. Other features include 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 2930 mAh battery. The C5 Ultra might cost around $350.

The Xperia M5 is smaller than the C5 Ultra, as it sports a 5-inch 1080p display. The M5 kind of resembles the Xperia Z3+, and will be dust- and water-resistant (IP68-certified). Apparently powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, the Xperia M5 seemingly features 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable internal memory, a 2600 mAh battery, and a 13 MP front-facing camera. The highlight feature of the M5 should be its 21 MP rear camera, which comes with Sony's IMX230 sensor, 5x digital zoom "with no perceptible loss in quality", fast auto focus (0.2 seconds), and 4K video recording. It looks like the Xperia M5 will be the handset capable of taking "split-second photos" that Sony recently teased. The smartphone could cost around $400.

Both the Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 have black and white color variants. Check them out below, and let us know if you like what you're seeing.

Not really, literally no one leaked or predicted the M5.

No one predicted it, and I'm sure not a lot of people even want it

Probably because M4 came out in March and in less than 6 months we have M5. Now we have C5 ultra and C4 was announced in May. I thought Sony was done with this 6month cycle. In other words why be hyped about a Z5 with SD810 when a Z6 may be released in February with 820.

To this I agree. It must have something to do with the insatiable need of the Japanese market for always new things. I used to work for a Japanese manufacturer and I know this all too well... It's what happened with the Z4. Sony almost realised that the global market don't want so frequent replacements of their products and after the Z3 they delayed slightly the Z4. But ultimately they decided that they couldn't really do it because of the Japanese market. And then, because they couldn't manage a bigger step from the Z3 in such a small replacement cycle again, they got themselves into this Z3+/Z4 confusion. But if Sony want to sell their products globally, they'll have to think globally. I was really afraid this might happen when they bought Ericsson's share and reduced the R&D presence in Europe. The Japanese seem too confused at the moment. That's why probably, apart from Sony, all other Japanese smartphone OEMs cannot have any presence abroad.

Price should be lowered, battery capacity could be higher. This phone just feels more like a flop TBH.

Interesting how you can tell all this without actually seeing a review...

Price should be lower for a phone that costs a mid-range $350 and has a massive FHD screen, a futuristic bezelless design, an octacore processor and a 13MPX camera with flashes both on the front and the rear??? Do you people even think before you comment?

That giant camera in the front kills the thin bezels.

Then buy a version with a black front. Great phone for that price. I wonder what kind of display Sony used.

That's your response? Seriously? Please explain to us how a different colored phone will change the size of the bezel.

Obviously, you didn't understand his comment at all :)

Then explain it to me. Until then, I stand by my comment.

I believe the reason he suggested the black version because in black color version both camera and bezels is not too noticeable especially with black on screen navigation bar.

Doesn't change the size of the bezel at all though. I think I understood his comment just fine.

I'm pretty sure Sony use LTPS IPS display from JDI for C5 & M5.

Excellent work with that bezels. True bezel less without any black borders or curves. Clearly gives a preview of what to expect on Z5.

If the info about the specifications is true it seem Sony going HAM with their Mid-range phones. But i think it would be great if Sony put the M5 specification into C5 Ultra body because C5 looks more attractive and Instead of the reflective glossy plastic it would be better if they use a matte frosted glass like finish like the one on M2 Aqua. Because it feels much better to the touch, takes fewer smudges, and feels less scratch-prone.
