UBS says Apple is on track to smash its own iPhone sales records in Q4

UBS says Apple is on track to smash its own iPhone sales records in Q4
Analyst Maynard UM from the banking giant UBS is positive that sales of the new iPhone 4S, as well as the older generation of Apple's venerable smartphone are through the roof.

He says that the expected cumulative iPhone sales can easily hit 30 million devices, and that will the most Apple has ever sold in a quarter. Recent comments from AT&T and supply chain checks for the month of November actually confirm the notion that Apple might log its best ever quarter, for the umpteenth time.

As for tablets, the analyst expects about 12 million iPads to be sold in Q4, with the number eventually hitting 13 million, which will dwarf everyone's tablet sales combined. Apple doesn't make as much profit from the iPad as it does from the iPhone line, but it's still a riot compared to what other manufacturers are squeezing out of slates.

I love me some Apple, but even I'm surprised with how well the iPhone 4S has done. Who knew an incremental upgrade would be such a huge development? I wonder if this will kill the next phone if it's a complete redesign since most people will be in contract from this phone. Then again, a lot of iPhone 4 owners were still in contract with the 4S came out. Should be interesting either way...Apple keeps people wanting their products so they are winning.

Why is this supposed to be shocking? in Q4 of last year, there was one carrier in the US who had the iPhone 4, it was AT&T, now you have all 3 of the biggest carriers plus an unlocked model you can get on T-Mo. Not to mention they're in more countries as well.

iPhone is the phone equivalent of Twilight or Harry Potter movies..every next sequel comes with a greater box office bang, but then blows it self even more rapidly. Can't wait to see Apple's sales experiencing monumental drop in Q1,Q2 of 2012, faced with an onslaught of far superior ICS devices. Remember guys, the higher you fly, the lower you fall..;)

You're completely wrong. iPhone 4 sold great for 1.5 years and continues to sell well. You're statement is completely opposite of the facts.

it's because for all that time it was able to hold it's own. why? - it's great design and well rounded package turned iphone 4 into a classic. - android was still shaping up and far from reaching it's full potential now, iphone 4s in the start naturally generates on that previous success, as well as on the death of Steve. but in the coming period it just WONT be able to hold its' own against high end ICS phones. imagine all the beasty droids that will be released by september 2012. it's MUCH MUCH different than the situation iphone 4 had to deal with

You're completely wrong. There's nothing groundbreaking in ICS. iPhone 4s will be a hot seller until the next iPhone comes out. You said you can't wait for it to stop selling well? Why the hating? Who cares what people prefer? Being a fanboy won't change the iPhones sales numbers.

Beastly is right on - large, clumsy plastic phones that get end-of-lifed in 6 months and are rarely updated. I suffered with Android for 2 years. The daily crash and reboot, the settings that were scattered all over the place, the "back" button that did something different in every app, the large but crappy screens, and the pathetic cameras. Beastly is right. I went through 2 DX's, a DX2, 3 DIncs and 2 DInc 2 in the family in 6 months because the phones were unreliable junk. After 6 weeks, my 4s has never crashed and is much better than I ever expected for a phone and iOS I thought I would hate.

The people have spoken. They love and want this phone. Despite what the haters will say on here. It's not all about specs or screen size. It's the overall experience of owning a phone. That's where Apple shines.

just wait till you get a proper ICS phone in your hands. i can't even imagine using an iphone 4s over my current droid.

I can and I am glad I did. You can live in ignorance, or move up to the 4s. Your choice.

let apple enjoy the sales rise for now coz Q1 and Q2 next year wil be dominated by ICS quadcores.i wuldnt be surprised to hear dat i4s wont beat iphone4 sales...but then apple will always alter the sales numbers so we will never know.

Apple sales will eventually go down simply because infinite growth is impossible, but I highly doubt it will be next year. When the smartphone market is saturated then maybe you'll see a decline or if WinMo makes a strong push that doesn't just take a chunk out of Android. Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if you don't see a dip in Apple sales for a decade, they'll find a way to maintain high sales.

I find out very laughable that fandroids are claiming that Apple will fall when as of date keeps breaking his own records in sales.. is now available in more carriers/markets... Apple is not even showing signs of slowing down...

Problem is that you can only expand to new carriers so far, eventually they're gonna have to directly compete with Android. I personally think they'll start addressing that next year by releasing 2 iPhones, the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, the iPhone 5 with be a quad core 4 maybe 4.3 inch screen designed for the heavy users costing 250/350/450 for 16/32/64 gigs on agreement while a smaller 3 inch model will be released, perhaps with a sliding or attachable keyboard intended for the light user, that will sell for 150/250 for 16 or 32. Prices are just general ideas but I think you'll start seeing Apple try to enter the low end smartphone market.

I think the next few years will show a lot. Right now Apple is building something big with their ecosystem. App store, iTunes and now iCloud make it very convinient to have all your stuff go through Apple. If they launch an Apple television as well and make it succesfull it will really help them get a very strong foothold in the market. Android also is building a big user base so it will be a battle.

I'm sure iPhone 5 would sell tons. But i think, having set a good reputation with Samsung Galaxy 2, The future Samsung Galaxy 3, would sell better.

Until an Android device outsells an iPhone I'll assume it won't happen. As long as apple offers only one new iOS device per year, nearly every iOS fan will buy that phone at some point in it's 1 year cycle. As opposed to Android where you have a variety of choices so the overall android base will split between a double handful of big devices. Galaxy family will be the top seller, but you'll still have Nexus devices, motorola does extremely well in the states, and HTC sells a ton.
