This prototype may be Microsoft's Nokia Lumia 1020 successor, "McLaren"

This prototype may be Microsoft's Nokia Lumia 1020 successor,
It has been quite a long time since there was a proper Lumia flagship to get excited about. There have been plenty of mid and low-end Windows Phones that have looked good for what they are, but there haven't really been any high-end Lumia's with widespread release. One that has long been rumored is the Nokia "McLaren", which is said to be the Lumia 1020 successor; and, a McLaren prototype may have just appeared on a Chinese auction site.

The device up for auction is listed as the Nokia RM-1052, and is clearly branded on the back as a prototype that is "Property of Microsoft Mobile" and "Not for Sale". The images clearly show the raised camera housing, just like the Lumia 1020; and, the info screen for the device shows a quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, and a 1080p display. The display appears to be 5-inches, but it's hard to say. The device itself looks to be made mostly of aluminum with a strip of plastic at the bottom.

As nice as it looks, though, Microsoft was rumored to have cancelled the plans to release the McLaren as of this past July. The device was supposedly being used to test out "3D Touch" technology, which basically means motion gestures and Kinect-style interactions with the phone. It would be pretty cool to see an update to the Lumia 1020 come out, but it is still relatively unclear what Microsoft is doing with its newly acquired Nokia hardware division.

The hump looks ridiculous. The final product should look sharper while still packing the same internals.

No Xenon flash? That's odd. The metal body looks beautiful though.

If they want to sell they have two major issues. Windows phone still sucks and that hump looks really bad.

You are such a troll, it's ridiculous. Anyone who buys this phone probably knows what OS they're getting into. Secondly, the 1020 has the same hump & looks are subjective. Try to be a little more constructive next time. Your lame ass trolling makes you sound like an immature, idiotic teenager.

Haha so I see you know this won't sell either. Unless they sell it for 200 something outright like they had to do with the 1020 to clear the mouldy and dusty stock at the Microsoft stores. Good times! Haha

You might be right. Who knows? I don't care. Not like I have a horse in the race anyway.

If a phone sells well, it does not mean that it is a good phone. ex. iphones sells well despite of their pricing and bad build quality and poor internals because of their fan base. The same applicable to all including Samsung. You are a biased Sammy fan who accepts all the craps from your beloved company and bash others though they have good products. It is waste of time to argue with you. I have seen you commenting " Suck TC", etc.

If by sucks you mean influential then yeah WP sucks and so does every other phone that rocks Flat UI and features like the three that menu etc.

Except Ecosystem, WP is really a smooth and well optimized OS. If the camera hump looks bad, then what about galaxy K Zoom?

The k zoom looks like a camera. This looks like mutant phone. Not the cool mutants but the ugly quasi Moto ones.

I personally love it. The 1020 hump always gets an eye when taking pictures. It is unique and allows for better housing for the camera.

Yeah it is unique, i respect your opinion, for me i wish that when they release the final product it will be along the lines of the 830 as far as the camera hump height goes, the width np, it will look awesome. http://geekongadgets.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/10548302_691358397579355_531140612574822416_o.jpg

That's why this is called an prototype! look at the 1020's prototype and you'll see its way way worse than the actual 1020

Awesome, they (hopefully, if this is real) kept the hardware shutter button! It's the icing on they cake of the 1020's great camera, and I'd be hard pressed to switch to a phone without one.

Did anyone else go to the website that is printed on the phone? (proto.nokia.com) Seems like a registration page for employees to register the prototype that they were assigned.
