Target confirms it will open Apple boutiques
After the rumor surfaced a couple of days ago, Target has now confirmed that it will open mini-Apple stores inside some of its own locations. It’s not yet clear whether the Apple device selection will increase to products like the MacBook Air, but it seems certain that the new Apple mini-stores inside Target will offer iPads and iPods as currently the retail chain is already selling those two.
Target is expected to open the miniature Apple stores in 25 locations by the end of the year.
Target’s confirmation comes after the retailer unveiled its The Shops at Target initiative for opening small boutiques inside its stores. The first set of store-within-the-store locations will open this summer and a second one is expected this Fall. Earlier, the company has already tried this strategy with the Missoni designer clothing corner. After it launched, Target’s website crashed as the public’s interest surged.
