Sprint's HTC Hero finally makes its grand debut

Today marks one special event for Sprint that was worth the wait – the full blown sale of the HTC Hero. This one act is Sprint's first foray into the Android platform; bringing along some much needed fanfare for the number three wireless carrier. Although the sale of the Hero jump started a bit earlier than projected, through telesales and Best Buy, October 11 was marked down as the official launch day. Sprint is now the second carrier in the US to bring an Android powered handset on board to its lineup. One might question Sprint's future in this aggressive and competitive environment, but their vast offerings in their selection provides consumers a good mix of devices. Going for $179 on contract after rebates, we know this handset will make waves in both the Android and Sprint community. We'll see in time if this one will go down in the books as one game changer for Sprint.
