Samsung's first gaming phone could ship with a custom GPU

Way back in June, it was revealed that Samsung was working on a new GPU for use in its low-end smartphones, presumably in the hope of cutting costs in the long run. Following the success that Apple has seen with its own GPU’s however, it seems the South Korean giant may also be looking at high-end solutions that could be included in more powerful devices such as its first gaming phone.

At the moment, very little information about Samsung’s gaming device is known. However, going by the segment’s recent trends and the characteristics of newer Galaxy devices, a high-end processor alongside 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is extremely likely. This should be coupled with a tall Infinity Display and potentially some impressive rear cameras. Also, much like the Galaxy Note 9, a Water Carbon Cooling System will likely be integrated.

If something does indeed have a high-end GPU up its sleeves, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the company implement it into flagship smartphones eventually too. With the Galaxy S10, however, this seems unlikely to happen. After all, the company is instead expected to use the Mali-G76 GPU.
