Samsung to sell half of its processors to Apple in 2011

Take into account this is an unconfirmed report, but if true, it would mean the Korean manufacturer will ship more processors to Apple than to its own mobile division. The unnamed source states:
"Samsung has agreed with Apple to quadruple monthly shipments of its mobile AP chips to 20,000 sheets throughout this year from 5,000 last year."
When it comes to processors, the Galaxy S maker means business (more info can be found in our dedicated article on chipsets), and it's reported that Samsung is building a chip factory worth $3.6 billion in Austin, Texas to boost its production rates.

Wow Samsung is controlling Apple. When Samsung stopps shipments, Apple is dead. Good tactics ;)

its too idiotic to think that samsung controls apple. itz like saying apple or any manufacturer controls the consumers. if samsung does not provide the chips then ti,qualcomm, broadcom, marvell, freescale or even nvidia for that matter can provide apple with the necessary chips. after all all the procesors are ARM based and they easily manufactured by the companies above. if samsung ever refuses to supply apple at a critical time then they are goanna get fucked up in the future.

Apple better come up with good use for these because with the Moto Atrix and a handful of other phones on the herizon the iphone will be way behind on options. Then again to make people happy maybe they should just start offering to insure their product like everyone else can. At any rate, Samsung is doing BIG things and Im not sure how people dont respect them as the #1 phone company at this point. From basic flip phones to smart phones to parts, Samsung is controlling and thriving in their business. GREAT WORK SAMMY! I love my 63" 8000 series 3d Plasma TV as well lol

I wonder if they will be shipping the Hummingbird processor or the Orion processor. It would more ideal for them to use the Orion processor to keep up with the competition, the Nvidia Tegra 2 and Android.
