Samsung brags about 10 mln sold units of the Star
Back at the beginning of July we told you Samsung was planning to sell 10 mln units of its affordable handset equipped with touch-sensitive screen, the Samsung Star S5230. The company reported earlier today that the sales figure had already been achieved. This actually means the Star has improved the previous record set by the popular slider Samsung М250 that managed to register the same sales figure for 10 months in 2006. The Samsung Star, however, has hit the 10mln mark in less than 7 months since its official market release. It seems the demand for affordable handsets equipped with touch-sensitive screens is on the rise, since the LG Cookie KP500 registered record sales in July as well.

Half of the record-breaking number of units of the Samsung Star S5230 have been sold in Europe, with the greatest contributors being the UK, the Netherlands and Italy. The company also reported over 1.6 mln sold handsets across Latin America and strong demand in the countries of the former Soviet Union.
