Samsung Galaxy A8 prices will start at around $515
Officially unveiled yesterday as the thinnest smartphone in Samsung's history, the Galaxy A8 should be available starting later this month in China. Initially, Samsung didn't mention the price of the A8, but now, thanks to Chinese website CNMO, we know how much the new handset will cost in China.

Samsung will sell the Galaxy A8 16 GB for 3,199 CNY (about $515), and the 32 GB version for 3,499 CNY (about $564). These prices are similar to those rumored earlier this month.

Although it's the thinnest Samsung smartphone ever (only 5.9 mm), the A8 is actually pretty big. It sports a large 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, thus being 158 mm tall and 76.8 mm wide - almost exactly the dimensions of Apple's iPhone 6 Plus.

The Galaxy A8 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, and is built around a metals chassis. It's the first handset in Samsung's A series to come with a fingerprint scanner, as well as the first (in the same series) to offer a 16 MP rear camera. Other features include a 5 MP front-facing camera, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2 GB of RAM, microSD card support, and a 3050 mAh battery.

At the moment, we don't know if Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy A8 all over the world, but we'll report back as soon as we find out. Until then, let us know if you think the new and super-thin Galaxy is worth $515 (unlocked, of course).
