The Motorola One Action’s existence is certainly no secret, although the lack of official confirmation has meant that, until today, there’s been quite a bit of mystery surrounding the product. But thanks to an Amazon Germany listing which was spotted by WinFuture, there’s now nothing left to reveal.

The CinemaVision display will be paired with four cameras

Kicking things off with a look at the external side of things, today’s listing corroborates the presence of a 6.3-inch CinemaVision punch-hole display which boasts a 21:9 aspect ratio and a Full-HD+ (2520 x 1080p) resolution. Overall, the panel is virtually identical to the one found on the Motorola One Vision which launched earlier this year.

On the rear, the Motorola One Action also retains the One Vision’s vertical camera setup. However, this time around the module has been elongated slightly to accommodate an extra sensor. The primary camera on the One Action looks set to offer a 13-megapixel resolution while the second one should be a dedicated 5-megapixel depth sensor. The resolution of the final sensor is yet to be revealed but Motorola calls it an ‘Action Cam’ and has coupled it with a super-wide-angle lens that supports a decent 117º field of view. On a related note, a 13-megapixel selfie camera is listed.

Completing the external setup is a USB-C port on the bottom in addition to a speaker and microphone, a headphone jack on top of the device, the volume rocker and textured power key along the right side, a SIM card tray on the opposite side, and a fingerprint scanner embedded within the Motorola logo on the rear.

A Samsung processor, 128GB of storage, and stock Android Pie

Powering the Motorola One Action looks set to be Samsung’s Exynos 9609. This is an octa-core chip clocked at 2.2GHz which was previously used inside the One Vision. In terms of performance, the chip is slightly slower than the Samsung Galaxy A50’s Exynos 9610 and the Nokia 7 Plus’s Snapdragon 660.

Today’s retail listing pointed towards the presence of 128GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM. It’s unclear at this stage if Motorola has plans for any other configurations, but a version with 64GB of storage and 3GB of RAM does seem likely. Regardless of the option chosen, though, microSD expansion is to be expected.

Accompanying everything mentioned above will be a 3,500mAh battery that should support 15W fast charging. Other features should include support for 4G LTE networks, NFC, and stock Android 9 Pie as part of the Android One program. But considering Android 10 Q is expected to launch this month, the presence of Pie is rather disappointing.

Motorola One Action announcement, release date, price

According to Amazon, Motorola One Action shipments will begin Friday, September 13. The 4/128GB version looks set to retail at €299 in Europe which suggests Motorola may be planning a price reduction for the One Vision – it currently retails at €299 – that’ll make it a more direct competitor to Motorola’s own €249 Moto G7.

It’s unclear at this stage if Motorola has any plans to release the One Action in the US, but if it chooses to do so the new model will likely replace last year’s Motorola One. Regarding the cost, $349 seems like a very plausible price point.

Motorola hasn’t yet announced plans for any introduction events, but IFA 2019 is coming up next month and it could provide the perfect stage for the One Action’s announcement. If this happens, the device will probably be accompanied by the quad-came One Pro and a yet-to-be-named budget Motorola One smartphone.
