HTC ThunderBolt has a camcorder audio problem, but a fix is on the way
Typical of any major device release, the rumor mill was abuzz with potential bugs with the HTC ThunderBolt. But now HTC has confirmed, to Android Central, that there is in fact a problem with the camcorder's audio recording.

Users have reported that sometimes the sound works fine, and other times the sound is muffled or nonexistent. Some users say that a temporary fix can be found by covering the noise canceling microphone. Others have suggested using a third-party video recording app.

And while HTC hasn't specifically identified the source of the problem, we can infer that it has something to do with the noise canceling, in that the ThunderBolt is canceling the desired audio source as if it were ambient noise.

HTC is confident that a fix will be out soon, but we won't be surprised if it's merely packaged with the ThunderBolt's Android 2.3 update, along with the Bluetooth fix, coming within the next few months.

I think its funny that when Iphone has an issue everybody talks about how bad Apple is and Iphone is a piece of junk. But when there is a problem with an Android device, which there are plenty, no one says anything.

I would say more than 90 percent of tbolt users won't notice or care about this issue. Most users don't even use it that often if not at all.

Is this the reason why when i use Tango and make a video call i can see the person fine but the audio is not working... kinda comes in choppy or none at all. i was just guessing tango sucked before this.

If they never mentioned this I probably wouldn't have noticed it until some time way down the road. I do hear audio, but its seems kind of low. Now if it was the video, that'd be a different story! Yea otherwise, I agree, the T-Bolt is rockin!

I have no problems at all with my TBolt other than there is no 4G in my area yet but in November it will arrive - I still pay $29 for unlimited data and no extra charge for 4G so I am cool with that - phone is super fast and has more features than expected. I have the 4G turned off right now and 3G is a lot faster than my other Droid. No problems at all! This camcorder issue might apply to some people but not all - kinda like how you hold some other phones. Nice try

Yep, I can confirm the audio issue with my camcorder but the Bluetooth works fine, syncs with the car/truck fine and transfers files no problem.

Is this problem only on selected Thunderbolts, because mine seems to work great. I even got it to pick up the ping from the bat hitting a baseball from 30ft away. :) happy,,,,,happy,,,,,joy,,,,,,joy!
