HTC One M9 goes on sale in Taiwan

HTC One M9 goes on sale in Taiwan
The plan all along was for the HTC One M9 to launch in HTC's backyard. But the date of the release, March 16th, had to be changed reportedly due to a software issue. Some said that the handset was having problems booting up, while others assumed that the problem had to do with the Snapdragon 810's alleged propensity to get a fever. After all, while running a benchmark test, HTC's new flagship had a surface temperature of 132 degrees fahrenheit.

But the good news is that HTC has sent out a patch that turns down the heat. A more recent reading of an HTC One M9 test unit showed the phone running at a much cooler 104 degrees fahrenheit, just two degrees higher than the HTC One (M8) ran during that aforementioned benchmark test.

So now that everything is copacetic with the HTC One M9, the handset is available for purchase in Taiwan, priced at the equivalent of $698 USD for the 32GB model. The 64GB variant, which is expected to be available at a future date, will be priced at the equivalent of $732 USD.

Last week, HTC Americas president Jason Mackenzie said that the phone would be made available in his region of the world starting on April 10th. He did say that individual carrier launches will depend on where and when inventory is shipped.

When will the review embargoes lift? Also, why did HTC boost the gamma so high on the screen and shift the color temperature so cold? It makes the screen look really dark.

These sites and reviewers already have the phone. mKBHD showed it off in a Dotcase2 review. It's just that OEMs have a period that they ban any type of review for their product until an official day. You can tell when there is a prolonged review embargo when all reviwers upload their reviews on the exact same day. I'm pretty sure the One M9 is already in house here. Reviewa probably will be up in mid April I'm guessing because HTC is fighting hard to smooth out the kinks on the HTC one M9.

If I was living in Taiwan, my two best choices would either be this or the Zenfone 2!! Depending on how much money I had :D

I have an M8 and see no reason to switch to the M9. It's basically an identical experience, but I think the M8 is still the better looking phone. I'm not digging that weird "lip" on the edges at all.

Here comes the gaps, loose/rattling power and volume buttons, overheating, not receiving notifications, poorly finished plastic trim and all the other goodies that come with every HTC product. How is the company still alive again? And how can their fans overlook this crap again?

How can you overlook that something is wrong with your head?

What would Samsung haters say here. $698 USD for the 32GB model in Taiwan, the home country of HTC. And the s6 is $699 USD for the 32GB model in USA, and everyone has gone crazy that the price is high. compared to the hardware in the s6 which one is cheap?

I still think M9 should have been cooler than m8 since it's the latest one
