HTC Droid Incredible finally announced, will cost $199

Now if you aren't really into such style of writing, let us say it in another way: at today's 99% Conference, HTC finally announced the Android 2.1-powered HTC Droid Incredible for Verizon Wireless. All the specs that have leaked at one point or another got confirmed, like the 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 1GHz Snapdragon (not underclocked), 8MP camera with flash, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm jack and the ubiquitous Sense user interface.
So nothing new under the sun really, except for one quite important thing - the price. "The next chapter in the Droid saga", as Verizon puts it, will continue on April 29 (read: launches on that day) at a price of $199 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.
Visit this page for pre-ordering details (starts April 19). Cheers!

I'm surprised all the sprint fan boys arent in here with their Evo this, and Evo that, Sprints crappy 4g this, and over rated WiMax that....

Or either he's upset because The Big Red doesn't have 4G(let alone 4G phone) out yet. As a Sprint fan and Cellular Handset Connoisseur I am happy Verizon got this phone. It will be the best phone on their network. It will do well just as the EVO 4G will do on Sprint. Competition is healthy.......................

Totally agree. Once the Evo was announced all this stupid talk of Sprint's amazing "4G" network is being talked about, when it's not really anything to write home about. Not to mention, it's virtually nowhere in terms of population it actually reaches. I predict that the Evo will go down like the Palm Pre. All hype, but at the end of the day, fails to deliver!

i hope tht the evo 4g is the same price as the incredible and hd2 i thought about the touch pro 2 from sprint and it has been over $250 for months and probably has no plans on lowering the price to my liking. if the evo 4g is 2 expensive, i'll upgrade to the moment and call it a day lol

Well that obviously catches people's attention because it seems like you're saving $100, but in fact, Verizon (and all the others who use MIR) hope screw ups won't actually claim the mail-in rebate :\ I've seen this happen amongst friends lol.

I don't see the 8GB internal storage listed in the HTC announcement that was referenced in previous spec rumors. I'm assumkng this is Flash storage like the iPhone? Anyone know if that is actually going to be in the phone? If so, isn't that sort of a big deal since I didn't think any other high end HTC phones including the EVO have this. Doesn't this allow more app storage? I thought there was some current software limitation that was preventing app storage to the actual SD cards, is that right? By the way, if you can't store apps to the SD card, what would you store on it? Pictures, music, videos, and office documentation type stuff, is that correct?

The limitation to store apps on an sd card is because there is too much risk for piracy in the android marketplace if you are able to do that. Google is working on a way to change that, it sounds like they will link the app with the phone's gmail account that is associated with it so apps will only work by the purchaser.

There is 8GB of internal storage. (1Gig for Apps= approx 400 apps depending on size / 7Gig for Media) Leaving the 512MB Rom, and 512 Ram used for the phone itself. With a free Micro SD slot that supports up to 32GB, (16GB for right now, software patch to support 32GB cards when they become more mainstream) Comparison to Motorola Droid with only 512Mb Ram and 512 Rom (with 256MB of Rom used for Apps/256MB used for phone) So the Incredible VS Moto has double the ROM for the OS, and 4x the app space. Hope that makes sense. :)
