For the Moment, Sprint sees Q2 Android 2.1 upgrade, same for the Hero
When we last spoke of the Samsung Moment, it was to pass along the word that the device could start receiving an Android 2.1 upgrade as soon as February 22nd. Actually, the upgrade was to be offered in two different ways. According to the story, Moment owners could take their phone over to a Sprint store starting February 22nd to receive Android 2.1, or wait until March 8th for an OTA version. That report seems to be incorrect as Sprint has just sent out a tweet saying that early in the second quarter, the carrier will upgrade both the Samsung Moment and the HTC Hero to Android 2.1. The message says that the pin-dropping network is working through update options with both HTC and Samsung. In reality, we're probably talking a few extra weeks of waiting, but for Android 2.1, we know that you'll be patient.

Another delay. . .way to go Sprint!!! This just goes to show that customers cannot count on Sprint to do anything right. With out this update Sprint Android customers cannot take advantage of all of the apps in the Android market. If you want the updates you're going to have go to a more reputable carrier. Verizon and T-Mobile Android customers get updates on time. What happens when someone detects a security flaw? I guess you will just have to wait a couple quarters with your personal information vulnerable until Sprint decides they can release an update. . . Dan Hesse, stop fooling around with Pre-paid and put money into the paying customers that keep you in business. . .the POSTPAID customers!!! Snowpocalypse Metorologist Jim Kosek predicts Sprint major defections 2010. . .

List out the android phones that came out with 1.5/1.6 that have been officially upgraded to 2.1. Not via a cooked rom. Oh wait, you can't, because there aren't any. G1...nope MyTouch 3G...nope Droid...nope Droid Eris...nope So, how is Sprint behind again, when no other mobile carrier in the US has upgraded their Android phones to 2.1? Even the GSM hero doesn't get the upgrade until the end of March.

Actually this isn't a delay, Sprint initially stated "1st half of 2010" for 2.0. Now they are saying early 2Q for 2.1. Seems like a positive update to me. You can't count speculative rumors and blog posts as Sprint press releases.
