Dell intros the Streak Pro 101DL
Dell unveiled the Android-powered Streak Pro 101DL smartphone that is heading for Japan this winter and packs some impressive specifications that may help it compete with some of the big dogs of the world.

The Streak Pro 101DL is the first Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone to come from Dell. This device features a 4.3-inch, 960x540 Super AMOLED display which should make for one bright and sharp screen. Fueling the handset is a dual-core, 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor. Those two features alone but the Dell Streak 101DL near the top of the competition specs wise.

Dell also is sticking with the trend of including two cameras. On the back of the device is an 8 megapixel camera while the front houses a 1.3 megapixel camera. Even though it is heading for Japan when it first launches, it is very possible that it could find its way to other markets around the globe. They confirmed that it has support for AT&T’s 3G bands (850 and 1900MHz), and given its supposed January launch it is possible this device could make an appearance at the CES.

With all of the missteps that Dell has made with their Android tablets, it is nice to see them produce a phone that appears to have a lot of potential. Now we all know that specs aren’t everything and it’s all about the real world performance, but it’s hard not to wonder how the display is going to look and how fast it’s going to perform once the Streak Pro 101DL becomes a public attraction.
