Best Android 6 Marshmallow custom ROMs available right now

Android Marshmallow has been around for a few months now, but it's still highly unlikely that your particular model device has it running on its hardware yet. According to the latest official Google data pull, only 0.5% of the total Android population is currently running the latest major firmware, and even among avid techies such as we have in our community here at PhoneArena, Marshmallow is still a rarity.

We'd love to tell you that this will all change at some specific future date, and everyone will get to enjoy the new features of Android 6, but that's just now the way it works. Older devices will never get official support, and even recent models will likely take many months more to make it over the hump and into the promised land. Thankfully, the open nature of Android — which is also a big reason for these delays — is both the culprit and the savior. Because of it, Android has spawned literal legions of third-party developers that seem to be working day and night, absolutely free, to bring fans the latest code, even if their device is not yet officially supported. Many of those developers even add some pretty cool, community-developed extra features, a few of which are definitely worth the effort of loading (flashing) a customized firmware build on your device.

Obviously, given that we're still in the early Marshmallow era, most custom ROMs are targeted at the Google Nexus of devices, because those are the ones that get access to the new stuff first. So there are a ton of modifications on the official code already available. Thankfully, a few notable custom ROMs are also available for other devices — ones that can't boast an official support status — and as time goes by, more and more devices will be included.

So without any further ado, here are the best Android Marshmallow custom ROMs available as of right now:
