Bah Humbug! Apple drops 12 Days of Gifts/Christmas promotion
Since 2008, around this time of the year, Apple would offer what it called in the U.S., 12 Days of Gifts. In Europe and Canada, the promotion was known as 12 Days of Christmas. The gifts would include apps, digital albums, television shows or movies with one new freebie made available every day. The gifts would start out small and end with a larger gift for day 12. For example, last year Apple gave away a live Rolling Stones mini- album on the last day.

The 12 Days of Christmas was available in the U.K. since 2008, and only hit the U.S. for the first time last year. The promotion required users to download and install an app of the same name. The app would reveal each day's gift and provide a link to it. Besides the "Sweet Summer Sun-Hyde Park Live" album recorded by the Stones, other gifts last year included the first (and best) Home Alone film, a live track from Justin Timberlake, and The Ice Princess book by Camilla Lackberg.

With no word from the manufacturer about the promotion starting up for 2014-2015, there is speculation that Apple has dropped the 12 Days of Gifts/Christmas for this year. The app is not currently being offered in the U.S., Europe or Canada. There is no word from Apple as to whether the tech titan will resume the freebies program next year. If you're looking for some free apps, we recently listed $36 worth of paid iOS apps that you can currently install for the low, low price of zero.
