Apple to launch 7.85 inch mini Apple iPad in Q3 of 2012?
According to parts suppliers who have been talking to DigiTimes, Apple is planning on producing a 7.85 inch mini Apple iPad tablet that will roll off the production line in the second quarter of next year. The device would be launched during the third quarter and would be equipped with screens produced by AU Optronics and LG Display, as we reported back in October. The production of such a model would take place after the expected March launch of the Apple iPad 3.

Despite the overwhelming success of the 9.7 inch Apple iPad, the smaller 7 inch Amazon Kindle Fire has been outselling the Apple tablet during the holiday season and Apple might want to provide a more well rounded tablet lineup for buyers. The late Steve Jobs was known to have been against the production of a 7 inch tablet.

Talk about a 7.85 inch Apple tablet is just speculation at the moment, as it would force Apple to cut corners in order to compete with a low priced device like the Amazon Kindle Fire. Apple might have to cut the amount of storage or put a slower processor under the hood.
