Apple previews iOS 11.3: Update will let you turn off iPhone throttling, see all the changes here

Apple has just revealed all of the major new changes that will arrive with the upcoming iOS 11.3 update. This will be a crucial patch, as it will give users the option to disable the battery management features that can decrease performance in iPhones with older batteries.

A slew of other important functionalities will also be included in the update, here's a list of all the changes mentioned in Apple's press release:

1. New features will display battery health and recommend if the power cell needs service. These can be accessed by going to Settings -> Battery and are available for iPhone 6 and later models.

2. Users will have a toggle for enabling/disabling the power management feature that can affect maximum performance on iPhones. The feature can be located in the Battery subsection of the Settings menu. Power management is currently present on members of the iPhone 6, 6S, SE, and 7-gen devices.

3. ARKit 1.5 will be introduced to developers. ARKit will be able to place virtual objects on walls, doors, and other vertical surfaces. Additionally, it will be able to map irregularly shaped surfaces in a more accurate manner. The view of the real world through the camera will get 50% greater resolution and support for auto-focus will be added.

4. A new Health Records feature will be added to Health app. It will bring together info from hospitals, clinics, and the app itself to organize and provide quick an organized access to the medical data. The service will be encrypted and passcode-protected.

5. 4 new Animoji characters will be added - a lion, bear, dragon, and skull.

6. Music videos are coming to Apple Music.

7. Apple News will get improved Top Stories and Video group feature in "For You" section

8. Business Chat feature will be added as a beta to Messages. It will allow users to communicate with businesses more easily.

9. Support for Advanced Mobile Location (AML) to automatically send a user’s current location when making a call to emergency services in countries where AML is supported.

10. HomeKit software authentication allows developers to add HomeKit support to existing accessories.

Cupertino has already made iOS 11.3 available to iOS Developer Program members and will release a public beta in the coming weeks. The company says that the update will be available "this spring".

Apple should not have been doing it in the first place and should not have lied about it when asked. It is cool that they will now give the choice to the user.

I would like to thank all the Apple haters for turning the "reduce performance to stop old phones from rebooting" into the typical Apple and it's users are the worst we must destroy them to save humanity Galaxy Note 8 is the greatest. Because of their relentless abuse and efforts, now all iOS users get the battery health page plus the ability to turn off the throttling features, however I'd honestly just leave it on, my launch day 6S still feels like a beast and if keeping this stuff on makes it more stable, then awesome! Could you haters maybe shift your energy to the other problems I have with iOS? Is that feasible, I'll leave a list below, if you could maybe start rallying and making fun of Apple for the following, it would really make my iOS experience better when/if Apple ends up fixing/adding them. Thanks. And yes of course isheep, kill apple, galaxy note 8 is the best, updates are useless in all of Android land because of Touchwiz etc.... - Set default apps - Stable 3rd party keyboards - Consistent Ui experience over different devices - Customisable - Deep Data control - Rotation control is a joke in iOS. The app grid will be portrait but safari will be landscape. - Pin specific things like keep notes, message threads, etc to app grid. Thanks!

Can please someone help with this. My iPad Pro 10.5, and my wife's iPhone X keeps dropping wifi. I tried forgetting the network on my iPad, restart it, I hoped the updates will fix it, but I still don't know why they're dropping it. I don't remember my iPad doing this before updating to iOS 11. If someone knows a workaround for this, your help is highly appreciated.

One of the people I know also faced the same problem. But it seems to be fixed now. Try updating to iOS 11.2.5 for a change. If that still doesn’t cix the issue, contact Apple support.

I did that yesterday on both devices. I didn't use the iPad after that, so I don't know if the problem is fixed now. But on the iPhone X, even after the update, the problem was still there.

Check your other devices. It may be something interfering with your WiFi signal. If a new router is nearby on the same channel and frequency it may be that instead of the iPhone or iPad having the issue. Also try switching from 2.4 to 5 GHz in the meanwhile.

But shouldn't this affect all my devices? My Android tv box, kids' tablets, my Note 8, and my 2 smart tvs don't have this issue.

Did you try to powercycle all the network equipment? It seems to be the DHCP service corrupted on the router. It would only effect the devices that need to lease a new IP address.

Restart your WiFi modem and keep to cool down for 5 minutes at least.

I have my main modem that has a built-in router, another TP-link router that acts as a repeater, and one more TP-Link repeater, and it does the same on all 3. I do have the wifi settings set on Channel 11, do you think this might be causing the problem? Thank you.

Not sure if you are setting it up correctly, can you try to take off the other repeaters and use 1 wifi router in your own network first and see if that is stable. GL.

Buy a Galaxy Note 8. LOLOLOL sorry couldn't resist. It sucks you're encountering these issues, do you have your Wifi set to a specific channel or to auto? Maybe try changing the channels and trying each one, one by one. I've had devices (not iPad's, just Wifi type devices) that just don't like specific Wifi channels.

I already have a Note 8 lol And yes, I have the channel set on 11, but what's puzzling is that the issues only persist on our iOS devices.
