Apple iPhone X and iPhone 8: here are all new official cases and covers

If you get a $1,000 phone, you might want to keep it well protected.

The iPhone X is just that, a phone with a $1,000 starting price. So Apple has come up with three new cases for the iPhone X: a silicon one, a leather one and a new "Folio" case to keep it safe from scratches and drops.

We are rounding up the colors, the looks and the style of the new iPhone X cases right below.

We also take a quick look at the two cases Apple offers for the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Nothing new there: the old iPhone 7 cases fit the new series of phones perfectly well. Despite the change in design with the new glass back, the iPhone 8 and the larger plus model feature identically sizes as the year-old 7 series. Price: $99

If you've got a $1,000 phone, you might as well spend $100 on a case. At least this is what Apple thinks because it has made just that case in the form of the iPhone X Leather Folio.

The Folio covers the back and the front of the iPhone X and once you open the front cover the phone automatically turns on.

The case features machined aluminum buttons that match the color of the case and there is microfiber lining inside the case for added protection. It's also wireless charging compatible.

Price: $49

The iPhone X leather case is the familiar leather protective case tailor made to fit the new iPhone X size. It comes in a ton of color options: saddle brown (our favorite), cosmos blue, pink fuchsia, dark aubergine, charcoal gray, taupe, midnight blue, black, and red.

Keep in mind that leather cases do age with time, but it is an effect that gives them character and style. The leather Apple is using is described as "specially tanned and finished European leather, so the outside feels soft to the touch and develops a natural patina over time".

The leather case is compatible with wireless charging, so you don't need to take it off while you refill your battery wirelessly.

Price: $39

The good old affordable silicon case is available for the X as well: it's available in blue cobalt, rose red, ultra violet, dark olive, white, pink sand, midnight blue, black and red.

This case has a snug fit and adds very little bulk to the already compact iPhone X. On the inside, there is soft microfiber for additional care for your scratch-free iPhone. And it is compatible with wireless charging, so you don't need to take it off when you wirelessly charge the X.

Price: $45 for smaller size, $49 for Plus

It's the same leather case as before and it also fits the iPhone 8.

Price: $35 for smaller size, $39 for Plus

Nothing new with the silicone case, which will also fit the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

It is the most affordable of the bunch, while still offering decent level of protection and a snug fit.
