Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak appeared on stage during Chinese superstar Xiaomi's New Year celebration event, commenting that he's now a steadfast supporter. The Woz is now in possession of the company's most high-end flagship, the Xiaomi Mi-3, a 5-inch smartphone that packs some seriously high-end gear, including the most potent bin of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel shooter. We're unaware whether Wozniak had the Mi-3 before his arrival in Beijing, or it was a gift from the company's founder duo. Regardless, Xiaomi convert Hugo Barra let it be known in a Google+ post that Wozniak is already a fan.

Now, we've seen high-profile figures being used to promote a company's new products before (think Michael Bay and Samsung, CES2014; Tom Hanks and Sony, CES2009), yet Steve Wozniak always striked us as a square shooter, making his comment all the more interesting. Xiaomi has been on a rapid rise the last few years, growing from nothing to a company worth well over a few billion dollars. All said, do keep in mind that Wozniak is well-known for his love of gadgetry of all kinds, so it's very unlikely that, all of a sudden, the Xiaomi Mi-3 is going to become his sole daily driver.
