Acer to showcase gaming smartwatch, new wearable at IFA 2016

DigiTimes reports that Acer is planning to bring a high-end smartwatch for the gaming market, along with a new smart wearable device to the IFA 2016 consumer electronics show in Berlin, Germany.

A "gaming" smartwatch certainly sounds unusual, so color us curious about what, exactly, is Acer's vision for it. While smartwatches certainly play games – as elaborate as Counter-Strike, in fact – their limited screen space and conservative hardware power haven't turned them into gaming publisher favorites.

As for the wearable, it will probably be a successor to the company's Leap+ fitness tracking and calorie counter bands.

Additionally, competitor ASUS will show off the third-generation ZenWatch with its different design, while Samsung is expected to unveil the Gear S3 – a wearable with a built-in barometer for atmospheric pressure detection and weather forecasting. There's also a built-in speedometer to detect the speed of the user while walking, running, or riding a bike.

1: Why is antutu score of iphone 6s shown as nearly 60000 in your reviews, whereas we all know its about 132000. The scores of other phones are correct though. 2: Why don't you release the full spec sheet and feature changes in any new ios update. For example you didn't list each and everything new or changed in ios 10 beta 1, to beta 4. As far as I remember your team didn't even reveal the changes in beta 5; you all left it out completely. As a info site, I guess its important for phonearena to list everything new about an upcoming upgrade (ios/android). 3: Remember a Q&A was conducted by your team some time ago, related to about 90 phones you had in your offices. http://www.phonearena.com/news/We-have-some-90-smartphones-in-front-of-us-ask-us-anything-about-them_id79728 The questions in relation to this post were never answered. So please answer them if I am not wrong. 4: Who is the ceo/head of phonearena. Does anyone review the articles written by you and other members of phonearena. Because several times the articles have major mistakes in them that confuse people. And many of the articles give details about the same thing again and again. For example your team visits an event of lg g5. The members start writing hands on and specs list of the phone. Whereas there should be just one article posted to this site related to specs and hands on, but many repetitive ones are posted telling the same thing again and again. People like me who constantly check this informative site are bombarded by the same sort of details. We open each article to find something new only to be disappointed! We hate this and would like some simplifying. Thats why I want to know if you all have a head or not which could review your articles before they get posted, as some of them are biased too. 5: If we ever want to ask or tell something to phonearena so that it is read by your team, how can we contact you. We need some cooperation b/w you and us. Sorry for such a long reply but I wanted to ask all the questions which I couldn't ask for the past two years. There are some minor ones too but will leave them for now. I am very much interested in phones and cars so wanted to join this site before when you needed a new member. Unfortunately I don't live in new york, and am still a student so couldn't avail this opportunity. I hope you will answer all my questions.

It better have a big battery if it's going to be a gaming watch. And it better have an AMOLED display to help conserve energy. Also it's CPU and ram better be up to snuff with Android Wear devices. They all have Quad core CPUs now. And some even offer 1gb of ram.

Acer is mad. Smartwatches are impossible for gaming than smartphone and more than PC. PC>>Smartphone>>>Smartwatch

Why can't Acer make a decent gaming phone with slide out controls? Nobody asked for this. Nobody wants to play emulators on a tiny screen.

Anybody here old enough to remember gaming watches from the 80's and early 90's?

They were just as awkward to play but cool if you were a shy nerd anyways.
