We know that Apple has new iPads in the works, that much is indisputable. However, questions do remain regarding what sizes we will see and when each of those tablets will be released. The latest rumors based on the Asian supply chain point to delays with the two larger iPad pro
models that are in the works.
The rumor reinforces the idea that Apple is working on three new iPads for release this spring -- an entry 9.7-inch iPad, a 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro -- however, it cites the upstream supply chain, including the makers of the touchscreen panels, as evidence that the two larger iPad Pro models may be delayed until May or June. Apparently, TPK Holding and General Interface Solution have seen drops in Q1 2017 earnings because of lower than expected orders from Apple, leading to the speculation that the new iPads may not come as soon as we thought.
Earlier this week, there were rumors of an iPad event in March
, and rumors of a March 2017 event for the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro
have persisted for a while, so we don't yet have reason to discount that part of the rumor. But this latest rumor does add the possibility that the announcement event may not necessarily mean the release of all the new iPads in that same time frame.
