Xiaomi unveils the Mi 4s: SD808, 3GB of RAM, 64 gig of storage on board
Apart from the Mi 5, Xiaomi had another product announcement for us today. It also announced the 4s, an improved version of the Mi 4, which debuted got introduced at a simultaneous event held in Beijing, China. That's a dead giveaway about the market at which the handset will be targeted - unsurprisingly, the Mi 4s will be launched in China at first. There, the device will cost 1699 yuan, which is roughly $260.
So, what will the adopters of the phone get for their hard-earned cash? A 5" device with metal frame, a fingerprint reader positioned at the back of the handset, and some impressive hardware for the price. First of all, we have a 1080p display up front, which comes with a pixel density of 441ppi - that's very good for a 5-inch handset. A Snapdragon 808 powers the whole shebang, and the 3GB of RAM on board take care of the multitasking. There's 64 gigs of storage, and if that already gracious amount does not float your boat, a microSD card slot is also present.
The camera is a 13MP one with phase detection autofocus and a dual-tone LED flash, while a 5MP one will take selfies. USB Type-C and an infrared sensor can be found on the Mi 4s, as well as a 3,260mAh battery complete the specs sheet. Software-wise, we have Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Xiaomi's MIUI 7 on board.
Now, if only we could get this one in the West...
