WWDC 2014: 10 things to expect

24comments
Apple’s 2014 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is about to start in mere hours, and expectations are that this will be a big event for Cupertino. After all, we've heard Apple’s software and services head Eddy Cue say earlier that "later this year, we've got the best product pipeline that I've seen in my 25 years at Apple."

Does this mean we’re about to see that much talked about ‘new category’ of devices (iWatch?), or the much hyped new iPhone (or iPhones)? Some of you might also remember that Apple has not unveiled a major new product since late last year with the iPad Air. Even though that’s correct, Apple is not necessarily expected to unveil new devices today. That does not mean it won’t happen, though - after all, this is Apple we’re talking about, the company that loves a good surprise more than anything.

However, let’s not forget that WWDC is first and foremost a developers conference, and focus on the more likely announcements. We’ve already seen the signs with the 8 sign, a sure symbol for the upcoming iOS 8. After a major redesign in iOS 7, the upcoming new 8th version of Apple’s mobile software is projected to bring a couple of new features and add some polish to existing ones, while keeping the same colorful and simple design of last year’s version.

We take a deeper dive at all the new features that could come in iOS 8 right below, as well as other likely new announcements by Apple. Join us below, as we recap the 10 big things to expect from WWDC 2014.
