The Essential Phone was finally shipped today (UPDATE: Or maybe not)

The Essential Phone started shipping today

The Essential Phone started shipping today

The last we heard about Andy Rubin's Essential Phone was that it would ship within seven days. That was on August 16th. But the good news today is that the device has finally shipped, which means that some of those who pre-ordered early should soon receive confirmation that their Essential Phone is on the way. The orders are not all being shipped at the same time, which means that if you do not receive a shipping notice, don't panic. You might receive it in the next day or three.

UPDATE: Several PhoneArena readers have reported to us that the Essential Phone did not ship yesterday as earlier reported. If you have received a shipping confirmation today, you can let us know by dropping a comment in the box below.

Some customers were upset because the company charged their credit cards without providing some form of shipping confirmation. Most retailers and manufacturers don't charge a credit card used for a pre-order until the phone is shipped. One Essential Phone buyer sent us an email the other day to tell us that his card was charged even though the phone he paid for was not shipped. He complained about the customer service and wrote that no one seems to know what's going on at Essential.

One other thing to consider. The delay in shipping the handset could be due to some issues with the device. Hopefully, everything works perfectly now that the Essential Phone is being shipped.

Thanks for the tip!

What's that? Have a failed flagship that gets recalled, lose $$ then lose even more giving a discount to buyers of said failed device?

That's called appreciation. Samsung is, once again, compensating those who were affected by the Note7 fiasco. Samsung has churned in big profits lately and as big as Samsung is, the $$ Samsung lost in the Note7 fiasco isn't much of an issue.

Previous Note 7 owners can go on Samsung's website to order the Note 8 for $425 off the retail price bringing the total to $505. You do have to trade in a qualifying device to get the discount though. There are roughly 15 phones on the list. That's what I did & probably what he did as well.

Google slickdeals Note 8 promo and you can get the Note7 email for $5 or you can make one if you have the Note7 receipt. Use Ebates & Unidays for more discounts.

They were probably a Note 7 owner and those folks get a $450 discount on the Note 8.

Mreveryphone most likely was a Note 7 owner and thus got the $930-$960 phone with a $425 discount for trading in an applicable device (iPhone 5 and up, Samsung S5 and up, LG G4? and up, or Pixel) thus making it $505-$535.

Verizon has up to a $480 trade in promotion, it includes phones like the Note 5 that are 2 years old. That is half off, then get the 360 cam valued at $229.99 for free. If you planned to buy the 360 cam any way, and have no use for the old phone, you're getting a Note 8 at the expense of $250. Which is a good deal if you ask me.

did the same thing with the previous note 7 offer, just have to trade in an iphone 5

"One other thing to consider. The delay in shipping the handset could be due to some issues with the device." Hey, can I get paid to be a 'journalist' by guessing at stuff too? Ummm.... the delay could be due to mole people breaching the surface world directly under the Essential Phone storage warehouse and claiming everything there in the name of their leader, King Molebrion !!

Can confirm, cc charged Wednesday. Not pending, charged and processed. According to the company's own FAQ that would not happen until shipment. No tracking information provided yet, just another stalling tactic due to the bad press starting. Csr stated they have no exact information to share on shipping at the same time social media posts were made to the contrary

Andy Rubin, get your company's s**t together or your beautiful phone's sales will be ruined by lousy customer service. Steve Jobs built apple by making sure they won't slouch on marketing and after sales, every ceo and business leaders should learn from that.
