Specs for rumored Oppo U3 are tweeted

Is there an Oppo U3 on the way? Based on a visit paid to the GFX Benchmark site by the handset, we can see that this model will carry a 4.6-inch screen with resolution of 1080 x 1920. A 64-bit octa-core 1.7GHz MT6752 CPU is under the hood, with the Mali-T760 GPU crunching graphics. 2GB of RAM is inside with 1.1GB of native storage available to the user. It would appear that the model will feature a 12MP camera on back, with a 5MP shooter in front.

Last week, Oppo unveiled the extremely thin Oppo R5. That model weighs in at a Twiggyish 4.85mm. But before we prepare ourselves for another Oppo handset, we do need to head over to the spice rack and take this with a grain of salt. This is the first that we have heard about a possible Oppo U3. The manufacturer has been making a point of teasing new models in advance, so this model seems conspicuous by its absence.

Assuming that the Oppo U3 is legit, it is interesting that in this day and age of larger-sized screens, Oppo would take a step back and offer a smartphone for those who can't cover a 5-inch screen with their fingers.

Thanks for the tip!

What's weird about it? The Z3 compact has a 4.6" screen.

They should go 5.2 with very little bezel. Anything smaller than 4.7 is uncomfortable to hold.

In your opinion. Most people in the world have a phone that is smaller than 4.7". I have a Note 4 & I would never want to go any smaller than that, but I wouldn't call an iPhone 5s, for instance, uncomfortable.

In a lot of people's opinion's actually. I've held the 5 and it feels wierd in the hand (I have normal sized hands). Me personally I won't go any smaller than 5. I've had a 4.7 inch Droid for 3 years and I can't wait to get a bigger device.

What did you do all those years before 4.7" phones existed?! I feel so bad for you!

Well lucky me I'm pretty young. I had an LG NV3 back then and I thought that was a big phone, then came the droid and I thought that was big and my old phone was small. Now I think the droid is too small and I may have found the perfect size range for me 5.2-5.5. Just goes to show how preferences change.

The Ulike 2 was 4.5 inch and they got a bunch of big phones but nothing small. Nice to see 1080p at that size , unlike the Sony Z3 Compact and iphone 6.
