Sony Xperia Z5 series available for pre-orders from Sony Singapore

Sony Xperia Z5 series available for pre-orders from Sony Singapore
Sony Singapore is now accepting pre-orders for the Sony Xperia Z5, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. While the website does promote the pre-order period from September 24th through October 11th, pricing for the trio is not listed on the site. What is posted is a notice that those who pre-order one of the new Xperia Z5 models from Sony will receive a free micro USB charging dock, valued at the equivalent of $41 USD.

In addition, those who pre-order any of the the three Xperia Z5 models from Sony Singapore will have the opportunity to purchase a high resolution audio headset for the equivalent of $35 USD. That is a discount of $70 off of the usual retail price.

Sony is promoting certain features of the Xperia Z5 series on its website, including the 23MP camera that auto focuses the subject in as fast as .03 seconds. Also promoted is the battery life, which runs as long as two days between charges. Also given special attention on the site is the capless USB port, and the fingerprint scanner. The latter is located on the side of the phone, requiring Sony to move the power button and volume rocker further down the right side of all three handsets. And of course, the trio are rated IP65/68 for dust and water resistance.

Thanks for the tip!

A really bad time to launch a flagship phone.

Why? People are going into phone stores to test a certain device out, they will see this Z5 and realize how amazing it is, and then walk out with a Z5 instead of what they initially went in to try. Pretty good time, really. The only downside is everyone who knows what's what is currently sitting patiently for Tuesday, and if the massive 6P Presentation leak from a couple hours ago is true, that is one amazingly nice device about to be released, especially with the almost-confirmed Graphite 128gb model, which is sad for Sony, but oh well

Any phone launched in September or October fights directly against the Note 5, new Nexus and the new iPhone.

But still, half the battle is getting people to try the phone, if it's a good device and people like it when they are there to try the iPhone, Note or Nexus, then sweet for Sony. It's a good time to release. And those who are going to specifically buy one of those three phones, then it doesn't really matter when Sony releases their phone, because that same person still won't be interested

New nexus and note 5= LOL. Note series doesn't sell as much and note 5 is the most disappointing note ever. And don't get me started about the sales if nexus. Oops I forgot, sales don't exist as no one buys a nexus outside of die hard android fanboys. The only practical issue is iPhone and that alone is enough to destroy the sales of any phone released now.

Note series sells much more than all the xperia models combined. Note 5 won't be an exception in which ever market its released so far. Sony's phones may be good, but lacks visibility in market. Eg: The news is about preorder for Sony in Singapore, but I hardly knew about it. While Samsung Singapore today has launched a massive campaign for Gear S2 launch here and has caught lot of attention with combo offers with Note 6 & S6 edge plus. The campaign seems a huge success seeing the crowd, in spite of the day being iphone release for carriers here. In short, not much hope seen for Sony products.

Sir u must be so happy to dismiss note 5. Note series are one of the highly respected phone in the industry that has been inspiring Apple too. But it seems it's only iPhone you can see..

That phone store people will walk into will be apple store, and they won't see the Z5. Besides, the only thing people see in the store are design and screen, and Z5 isn't particularly great at either of them. It looks pretty much the same as any Sony to a non tech-nerd and Sony screens are average at best. No matter how great the Z5 is, it doesn't matter. Even if Z5 was the best device ever in history of smartphones it doesn't matter as this is a really bad time to release phone. It's iPhone week and Sony can't change that.

Now I am a touch confused. Cuz, that's a 4K screen, and from the brief hands on, everyone was loving that screen... Also it doesn't do any harm that the device looks amazing, too, when compared to others. That mirror "chrome" model, yum. Those in the Apple store buying an iPhone are those who are not willing to buy anything else anyway, hence why they are doing the whole "Apple experience" in store, so what's the harm of Sony releasing now?

That screen is 1080p. Z5 premium has 4k screen. And a screen is much more than resolution. No matter if Sony puts a 8k screen there. Their quality ducks when compared to other screens. They are too cold to look at and colour saturation is all screwed up. Besides, even Z5 premium operates at 1080p 99% of the time. That means when the user is operating through UI, he will see 1080p. Even if he sees 4k screen, a normal perrin won't care a he can't see the difference between QHD and 4k anyway.

Stop talking about your usually incorrect BS. Phones in store operate in display mode, meaning if left idle they show random content which means the Z5 will be in 4K mode. As for 'cold' screens, both the most popular phones: Galaxy/iPhones have been 6500k+ tuned for years by default and people like you sing praise for them. "he can't see the difference between QHD and 4k anyway" But he can see the difference between QHD and 1080P? Oh wait because Samsung does it, QHD is now noticeable, especially with AMOLED pentile sharpness that's half of RGB LCD.

It won't be 4k in random mode. It will be 4k only in album app. Besides, when people use the phone in stores, they use the normal phone, not the showroom app. So it will show the damn homescreen once a user touches the phone and uses it. At least that's the way it works in my country. Regarding sharpness of screens, a 577 PPI AMOLED looks leaps and bounds better and sharper than a crappy 400 PPI LCD. It's not resolution, it's the size difference too. Hell, even the regular Z5 is way sharper than a Z5 premium. I can see difference between my 424 PPI G2 and my s6 clearly. I may even see a difference between QHD and 4k, but that difference will only be noticeable while reading text or a vector object, not video LOL. You will be hard-pressed to find a resolution difference between a 720p and 1080p phone while watching video, as stuff moves fast and your brain fills the gaps really well.

I never own a sony smartphone, but i guess Sony made the best screens, it just their software that sucks

Sony phones had bad displays esp the initial Z series, esp worst viewing angles. They couldn't stand anywhere near the AMOLED display of Samsung.

But I think the target market of z5 is different to that of iPhones. So even if the iPhones may sell more, it might not give any trouble to Sony to meet their target sales. There are people who will also look for insane built quality and ruggedness that Sony is unmatched for. Those are Sony's real target. Apple products are more mainstream though.

Sony phons have all good qualities while the sore point is that all versions look the same from last 3-4 years. They should attempt some freshness in order to get customer interset again. Else the Xperia series will die sooner than later. Who (except Apple fans) want to spend $600 or above for a phone that looks similar to the model released 3 years ago?

Exactly. The new ugly i6 sells because it's new.

Still no word on US. Bleh. For those complaining about "new designs" need to get out. The design is refined every time they release it, making it better and better each time, just because it is different does not make it better. If your design looks good already, no reason to rehaul to make it look worse. I hate the profile of both the iPhone and Samsung phones.

i hope Sony people saw the article on 2nd quarter market share. They have less than 1% share. I think with the Z5's price even with their waterproof features and new camera, Sony Will continue to occupy less than 1% of the world mobile phone market share.
