Sony Xperia XZ4 case renders lend credence to triple camera rumors
While the recently rendered Sony Xperia XZ4 Compact may or may not be a thing, the previously leaked “regular” Xperia XZ4 is undoubtedly right around the corner.

Expected out at next month’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the latest flagship device from a company that hopes to get its mojo back this year is revealing its secrets one by one. Technically, the first batch of CAD-based product depictions left little to the imagination to begin with, but just in case you needed corroboration of a few key features, Olixar and Mobile Fun are here now to provide exactly that.

Of course, as reputable as the mobile accessories manufacturer and UK-based e-tailer might be, these newly pictured case renders are to be taken with the same proverbial grain of salt as always.

That being said, it feels more and more likely that the Sony Xperia XZ4 will indeed sport three vertically-aligned rear cameras, as well as an extra-tall 21:9 display with relatively thin top and bottom bezels, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Those would be some original, trend-defying design choices across the board, as notches and screen holes are all the rage nowadays, with in-display fingerprint recognition technology finally appearing to take off as well.

It’s interesting to point out that Sony went from side to rear-mounted fingerprint sensors in its 2018 mobile designs, looking to do a 360-degree turn now instead of embracing modern, “invisible” authentication methods.

As for the triple lens arrangement, it’s probably best to reserve judgment for after we get to see exactly what each camera is capable of. More is not always better, as proven by the likes of the Pixel 3 and Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018), but it absolutely can be with the right software execution and properly optimized, non-gimmicky hardware.
