Some Motorola DROID X units have been shipped with defective screens
You might excuse some Motorola DROID X owners tonight if they seem a bit preoccupied. Some might think they are seeing double, or having problems with their eyes. We can assure you, DROID X owners, that the problem is not with you. You see, it isn't just the Apple iPhone 4 that had a problem almost immediately upon launch. The Android forums are alive tonight with word that some units of the new Android flagship model, the Motorola DROID X, were shipped with defective screens. The trouble is either graphical or electrical and results in rapid flickering and vertical banding on all or some of the unit's 4.3 inch display. Verizon has already replaced some models with some customers being told that the problem was common among launch day inventory. If you are one of the unlucky ones who had a problem with their DROID X screen, let us know what your display was doing and how Big Red did right by you. While word of this problem has just started to make its way out of the forums, we should be able to come to a conclusion in the next few days about how differently Verizon/Motorola and Apple/AT&T each handled their respective predicament.

Ok can you say NONSENSE!!!! These people tried to jailbreak there devices, and MOTO has put a bit of software in to prevent this. Turning the phone into a brick. Remember there was an article saying that trying to jailbreak the droid x would be next to impossible? Well those utube videos are the results. So nice try Phone Arena. If your going to review phones and other devices you need to be impartial. Like Consumer Reports.

My Droid X works perfectly, and obviously all phones have something defective on them when first launched, it all just depends on the size of the issue. And this is no where near a huge issue for the Droid, compared to the issues surrounding other devices.

Hey phonearena, we had 40 on launch day. 1 was defective because it wouldn't turn on. I'm guessing its a slow news day for you?

1 out of 40 is pretty bad.. but Moto doesnt care.. they just ditched their cellphone division to Nokia. Even they knew to get out.

Really? More stupid posts from you? 1 out of 40 is pretty bad? So not only are you bad at math, you know nothing about cellphones, and can't read. Moto did NOT sell its cellphone division to Nokia. They sold their wireless network equipment division. Yet another random generalization by Herb. But hey it's cool. You only make yourself look like an idiot when you do that.

No im afraid im not. You can't read, or comprehend what you read anyway. You think 2.5% faulty devices is a bad figure? go back to math class dude. But then again, being five years old you haven't learned dick anyway and it shows

BTW herbie. That was an isolated incident. Next store had 70 units with no defects. I cant believe you actually thought Moto sold off the entire wireless division to Nokia. Let me guess. Microsoft bought the entire company of Apple also? Oh... I know! Ford bought GM last night didnt they? Your mom should have sold you off to slavery....

Hey Sloth! lol. Did you know that according to the United States Census Bureau the average yearly income for a family is "$50,233.00"??? I make that alone in the first 8-9 months into the year. So yeah. Your right. Apparently im poor and dont have an education. Funny how everyone I work with has a degree in one thing or the other... Plus I get free cell service and get the latest and greatest in devices whenever I want. Its ok to be jealous Sloth. ;-) I understand that you still live in your moms basement eating hotpockets as you spam Phonearena.com with your uneducated rants. Theres medicine for that. Its called Ritalin.

Not jealous at all, I actually pity you. Narrow minded person like yourself thinks small. You think you make a lot of money when what you just stated is peanuts. Who cares about free cell service if you can afford it. Eventually try to get back to school to educate yourself more, dummy.

Yes it is happening. About 2 hours after getting my on Friday, about 3/4" of the bottom of the screen is pixelated like snow on a TV. Big Red is telling me to send it back and wait until Aug 10 for a replacement.
