Samsung Gear S2 and S2 Classic will be launched on October 2 in Canada
While Samsung already announced that its Gear S2 smartwatch family would be available to buy starting October, it didn't provide an exact release date. However, we now know when the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic will be launched in Canada.

According to Best Buy Canada, which today started taking pre-orders for both the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic, the two new Samsung smartwatches will be released on October 2. Customers up north can pre-order the Gear S2 for $399.99 Canadian dollars (about $300 USD), while the Gear S2 Classic costs $429.99 Canadian dollars (about $324 USD).

October 2 could be the day when the Gear S2 and S2 Classic will be available in the US, too, though that remains to be confirmed.

Samsung also has a Gear S2 3G (which lets you call and use phone functions without connecting it to another device), but this will be released after the regular Gear S2 and S2 Classic.

All Gear S2 smartwatches run Tizen OS, and are compatible not just with Samsung's Galaxy smartphones, but also with many other handsets that run Android 4.4 or newer, and feature at least 1.5 GB of RAM. The Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic offer similar specs - including 1.2-inch Super AMOLED circular displays with 360 x 360 pixels - but they're different when it comes to design. I hope they add the feature of being able to scan your watch at the gates. That's the only reason I wear my android wear watch when I travel. Other than that the gear s stays glued to the wrist...

So far my plan is to get the classic now and then either get the S3 in sport next year or whenever they release it or wait until the s2 sport goes bargain bin Moto 360 or zen watch style 130 Canadian type price drop and end up with both. That could change at any moment though. Lol

This is going to be the most popular smartwatch among Android users. I think customers with smartphone brands other than Samsung will also buy in large numbers. If so, this will be the first notable success of Tizen OS.

So its probably gonna be 299.99. They should justvsell it for 249.99 and sell more in volume. Then put it on iOS and they can pay 349.

Yes 249.99 would have been a good sells price.

Is the one on the right a real watch face or is it just an image? I'm having a hard time telling. I do like it very much. It looks stunning for a smart watch if its not a real watch, that is.

I'd really like to know whether the Bluetooth version S2 & S2 Classic can take and receive phone calls or not? If they can't that would be a silly omission by samsung.

Never mind, It mentions it on the Canadian BestBuy website that it can make and take phone calls. Goodbye moto360- Hello Gear S2!
