Samsung Galaxy A8 rumored specs include 5.7-inch display, Snapdragon 615 chip
According to a new rumor from Sammobile, Samsung is gearing up to release a new smartphone called the Samsung Galaxy A8 (SM-A800F). Like the three previous smartphones in the Galaxy A series (the Galaxy A3, the Galaxy A5, and the Galaxy A7) the Galaxy A8 is said to come with an all-metal build. Back in March, we told you that Samsung has registered the Galaxy A6, Galaxy A8, and Galaxy A9 trademarks, but this is the first time that we're hearing any specifics.

Sammobile quotes insider sources that point towards the Galaxy A8 featuring a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels (Full HD). Under the hood, the Galaxy A8 is expected to be based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip, an upper mid-range SoC that includes four ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at 1.7GHz, four additional ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.0GHz, and an Adreno 405 GPU. As far as the memory is concerned, the Galaxy A8 is said to come with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of integrated storage space. All these hardware components are said to draw power from a 3050mAh battery.

As far as the dimensions go, the Galaxy A8 is rumored to feature a thickness of just 5.9mm. If this turns out to be accurate, then the Galaxy A8 will be the thinnest smartphone that Samsung ever made. The Galaxy A7 currently holds this title, with a thickness of 6.3mm.

In the camera department, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8 is rumored to feature a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP front-facing shooter. Even if the 16MP primary sensor doesn't turn out to be identical to the one featured by the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 edge, and the Galaxy Note 4, this seems to be a solid camera setup for a mid-range smartphone.

Insider sources claim that the Samsung Galaxy A8 runs Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. At the moment, it's unknown if Samsung will port the new and improved TouchWiz skin that's preloaded on the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, but that would certainly be a welcomed feature. Sammobile says that the Galaxy A8 has every chance to be a China-only smartphone, but that this isn't set in stone just yet.

I think this A8 is like a prototype to introduce the Note 5 for a thinner, less heavier body. Just like how the Alpha (I think) was in preparation for the S6.

3050mAh in a 5.9mm shell where note 4 whichis 3mm thicker has similar capacity... I knew that they were holding back on the battery in n4. They probably could've fit it with a 3600mAh easily, but since they planned to make thin phones in the next year, people would trash talked them for reducing drasticly battery's capacity. Manufacturers are holding back on batteries. Some 7" tablets have 3600-3800 baterries... Nonetheless, 3050mAh ina new note 5 combine with the 6,7-7mm thickness would be amazing.

Note 4 is not an old phone by any means, but you can see it was built on a completely different premise. The new samsung's s6, a series represent a completely new approach. Note 4 was the best of old sammy's approach. Can't wait for the note 5. This phone will be just epic.
