Samsung Galaxy A8 rumored specs include 5.7-inch display, Snapdragon 615 chip
Sammobile quotes insider sources that point towards the Galaxy A8 featuring a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels (Full HD). Under the hood, the Galaxy A8 is expected to be based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip, an upper mid-range SoC that includes four ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at 1.7GHz, four additional ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.0GHz, and an Adreno 405 GPU. As far as the memory is concerned, the Galaxy A8 is said to come with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of integrated storage space. All these hardware components are said to draw power from a 3050mAh battery.
As far as the dimensions go, the Galaxy A8 is rumored to feature a thickness of just 5.9mm. If this turns out to be accurate, then the Galaxy A8 will be the thinnest smartphone that Samsung ever made. The Galaxy A7 currently holds this title, with a thickness of 6.3mm.
In the camera department, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8 is rumored to feature a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP front-facing shooter. Even if the 16MP primary sensor doesn't turn out to be identical to the one featured by the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 edge, and the Galaxy Note 4, this seems to be a solid camera setup for a mid-range smartphone.
Insider sources claim that the Samsung Galaxy A8 runs Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. At the moment, it's unknown if Samsung will port the new and improved TouchWiz skin that's preloaded on the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, but that would certainly be a welcomed feature. Sammobile says that the Galaxy A8 has every chance to be a China-only smartphone, but that this isn't set in stone just yet.
