Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) to be sold in India as an Amazon exclusive

The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) will launch in India this month. With the Infinity Display present on both models, these will be cheaper substitutes for Sammy's 2017 flagships. And pricing is important in India, which is the second largest smartphone market in the world after China. With a low per capita income, Indian smartphone buyers have to do their research on whether a certain handset is affordable.

When the Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) launches in India, it will be an Amazon exclusive. We come to that conclusion thanks to a teaser on the Amazon India website that allows those interested in the phone to leave their email address so they can be notified when pre-orders start. The teaser lists the phone as being an Amazon Exclusive. We expect pricing to be in the range of 38,000-42,000 Indian Rupees, which translates to $600-$650 USD.

The phone features a 6-inch Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2220, and an aspect ratio of 18:5:9. The Exynos 7885 chipset powers the unit, featuring an octa-core 2.2GHz CPU and the Mali-G71 GPU. 6GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of expandable native storage. A 16MP camera adorns the back of the phone with an aperture of f/1.7. The front-facing dual camera setup weighs in at 16MP and 8MP. It also includes a feature called Live Focus that allows you to blur the background after taking a selfie.

The handset is equipped with a 3500mAh battery, and offers a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy A8+ (2018) carries an IP68 certification rating, and comes with Android Nougat pre-installed. "We expect pricing to be in the range of 38,000-42,000 Indian Rupees, which translates to $600-$650 USD." If you deduct the VAT, price will be lower than $600.

Why would you deduct VAT?

Those phones were prepped and sold with the current os at the time. And now the A series is going to be a mid range phone with a flagship Galaxy s7 price from two years ago. Shipping a "midrange" phone with a price that inflated deserves more added value in my humble opinion.

Price it right Samsung, there's no way of buying this phone over Oneplus 5T. At least keep it in range of $400-500.

Why they insist with this ridiculous ratio? From 4:3 we went to 16:9. That's fine. Is the ratio of HD and 4K. And it's very useful in smartphones. I just don't understand the persistence in this weird format.
