OnePlus rival trolls company on Twitter, teases "Flagship Killer 2.0"

OnePlus rival trolls company on Twitter, teases
The OnePlus 7 Pro

The ‘Flagship Killer’ tagline has been attached to OnePlus smartphones ever since the launch of the original way back in 2014. But following the introduction of the company’s most expensive smartphone ever, one rival brand made the most of the situation.

After hearing about the OnePlus 7 Pro, Xiaomi VP Manu Jain and sub-brand Redmi took to Twitter earlier today to congratulate OnePlus on its latest flagship device. But in an apparent dig at both the company’s ‘Flagship Killer’ tagline and the OnePlus 7 Pro’s high price tag, both tweets included an image which teased the upcoming launch of Redmi’s own “Flagship Killer 2.0.”

Adding further fuel to the fire, Xiaomi also published a brief post on its official forums that confirmed the company’s understanding of the fact that “not everyone can afford a flagship” and contained the following message:

Xiaomi hasn’t yet revealed much about the upcoming Redmi K20 flagship, but the tweets themselves do point towards the presence of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 on the inside. Rumor has it the smartphone will also arrive equipped with a 48-megapixel rear camera and a pop-up selfie camera, just like the OnePlus 7 Pro.

The Redmi K20’s price hasn’t been revealed yet but it’ll presumably cost significantly less than OnePlus’ device. Also, on a related note, it’s possible the Redmi K20 will be rebranded as the Pocophone F2 in certain markets.

Actually, ads infused MIUI appeared only in China where they're sold their devices at super cheap price. Anywhere else won't have that ads.

Another one who's never used a Xiaomi. I'll take a Xiaomi over a Oneplus any day of the week.

I hope it gets good dev support if it turns out to be what the 7Pro should have been.

I feel OnePlus's sense of insecurity! As long the words "Samsung" does not appear on the phone, it's a lousy phone. As simple as that! Even if Samsung costs several thousand of dollars the legendary queues outside Samsung stores is a testament to Samsung's immense popularity with its legendary Vibranium glass.

Love the competitiveness and innovation coming from these companies. Too bad the US is lagging behind again...

Xiaomi introduced the whole idea of flagship specs at budget price by reducing cost through online sales and other innovative methods. One Plus is only a rip off.

I think pocofone 2 will be the real flagship killer. One plus 7 price tag is actually pretty expensive compared to previous iterations

Their flagship killer won't matter because it's software would be s**t

This is very exciting. In the end, we should all be praising this race to be the best "bang-for-buck." Even if you love OnePlus, they will get complacent being the only "Flagship Killer" so be excited that someone is trying to take their title. This will only make them fight to keep/re-take it. We all win in the end. Let's have many many more $400-$600 flagship options!
