New Android commercial takes it to the hardwood court for slams and cams

About a month ago, Google produced an ad for the Android OS that featured all sorts of strange animal friendships. The ad debuted the new Android slogan, "be together. not the same." That commercial happened to get a lot of air time. Now, it is time for Google to put the next ad in the prime time rotation. Instead of strange animal friendships, we are treated to some NBA style hoops action.

Google has titled this ad "Selfie Slam" and it is easy to see why. A player has the ball in the back court, employs a cross-over dribble and throws down a monster slam. The play-by-play announcer is so stunned that he literally flips his wig (a shot at toup'd play-by-play man Marv Albert?). Luckily, the player going up for the slam had the presence of mind to bring his Android handset with him on the court so that he could shoot a selfie at the precise moment that he is dunking the ball.

By the way, the dunk is a game-winner. We haven't seen that kind of hang time since Dr. J used to take off from the foul line and slam home two  points. The actual winners by the way, are Android fans who saw a trio of flagship phones introduced the other day. The HTC One M9, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are now official. Of course, we will let you know when each model can be reserved via a pre-order.
