New AirPods orders won't arrive until after Christmas

If you haven't ordered your Apple AirPods yet, it might be too late to receive them in time for Christmas. New orders placed with carriers and retailers will now arrive after December 25th with some exceptions. This means that if you are set on gifting someone the Bluetooth powered wireless ear buds for the holidays, you might have to make it a belated Christmas present.

For example, Apple 's earliest delivery date for new AirPods orders is January 4th. Best Buy's website shows a delivery date of January 5th at the earliest, while Verizon customers will receive the accessory no earlier than December 29th. AT&T appears to have some AirPods in the warehouse as the carrier's website offers them with two-day shipping.

Last year, Apple delayed the release of the AirPods by a couple of months. At the beginning of this year, following the launch of the product, reports stated that Apple had turned the heat on manufacturer Inventec to churn out the device in bigger numbers.

The AirPods turn on once placed in your ears. They pair to an iPhone with a single tap, and run for five hours on a single charge. The carrying case doubles as a battery charger, and can refresh the AirPods' battery multiple times, adding up to more than 24 hours of usage on a single charge. The AirPods are priced at $159.
