LG G4 Beat (G4s) officially announced as a Snapdragon 615-powered mid-ranger

LG G4 Beat (G4s) officially announced as a Snapdragon 615-powered mid-ranger
LG just announced a brand new Android 5.1 Lollipop smartphone that will be called G4 Beat in some markets, and G4s in others (Europe and the CIS region). Obviously resembling the G4 flagship, as well as the LG G4c, the G4 Beat / G4s aims to deliver a "premium design" and "superior features" in "a mid-tier package."

Previously mentioned as the LG G4 S, the new smartphone is powered by an octa-core, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, and sports a 5.2-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels. Measuring 142.7 x 72.6 x 9.85 mm, the G4 Beat is obviously smaller than the G4 flagship (which sports a 5.5-inch display).

The new LG handset has a 5 MP front-facing camera, and an 8 MP rear camera with laser auto focus (the rear camera will be a 13 MP one in Latin American countries). Other features include LTE and HSPA+ connectivity, 1.5 GB of RAM, 8 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 2,300 mAh removable battery.

LG will start selling the G4 Beat / G4s this month, first in France, Germany and Brazil. After that, the handset will be released in Canada, Russia, Turkey, South Africa, India, Singapore, and other countries (the US wasn't mentioned). Right now, there's no word on the price of the new LG smartphone. How much would you be willing to pay for it?

Precisely, the G2 is better in every way. How do LG manage it? How can they not beat a 2 year old design? The new phone is 17% bigger and has a much smaller battery.

Could have just rebranded it as a cpu upgraded G2. I guess if they are trying to get it into the hands of people in places where cheap phones are all they could afford then this could be a seller. 1.5gb of ram is just a low blow as 5.1 should have at least 2gb of ram.

except the cpu isn't upgraded. The 801 would still best the 615.

$0. I'd buy a S4 or a G3 instead. LG are idiots.

16 Gb should be the standard for the mid-range phones. 8 Gb is cruel!

8 GB of storage is stupid for mid-range device.

At most $199. 8GB and 1.5GB of RAM kind of kill its value compared to other SD615 phones in the US such as the Idol 3 and P8 Lite. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see it at the same price as those phones if not more.

Lg's beat series is kind of expensive for their specs. G2 or Xperia Z2 might be better than this.

Throw the 620 in there, please. 615 is just not that good.

1.5GB RAM and 8GB storage... what were they thinking? Should've been 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. I will also not be surprised if this phone costs $450. Either way it's a flop with those specs.
