Android Central has just received a leaked picture of the box for the upcoming Motorola Devour aka Calgary. Based on the pictures of the Android powered handset on the box, Motorola has replaced the D-Pad with an optical sensor and with the MotoBlur UI on the phone, is pushing the Moto motto, "Live Life for the Story". Now that the Devour/Calgary has a box, it shouldn't be too long before it is launched. Another piece of news that tel us that a launch is imminent is the listing of screen protectors for the device on Amazon. 2 protectors, an applicator and a cleaning cloth are $5.99. Of course, shelling out your hard earned cash for the protector does no good unless you own the device. The handset is expected to be released in the current quarter at a price somewhat south of the price of the DROID.

At least it has Moto Blur. But I'm like you, I'm not giving up my Droid.

You guys do realize that DROID is nothing special all it means is that the phone has Android. The G1 and the my Touch are DROIDS. FYI its the DROID DEVOUR.

This phone is for people who can't afford Droid but want a similar phone. It isn't bad, but if you can spend the extra, go for Droid :-) Also, this phone is already showing in the inventory system so it shouldn't be too much longer for it.

this is not the box for the phone.... I don't doubt its existence however, this is a launch kit for the new device, The Verizon stores get these before the device launches.

Every Android phone isnt meant to go toe to toe with the iPhone .

I dont think this is for people who cant afford a droid. this is probably just an alternative for a younger crowd since motoblur is all about social networking... this device being a motoblur device and not a google device just makes it a little more appealing to a younger crowd that doesnt need all that the droid has to offer. because most likely your going to be spending the same amount a month for a droid or iphone so the price isnt much to consider when looking for a service plan. Maybe when buying the phone but 2 yr contract prices are cheaper if you go to a retailer like walmart or best buy so you can get it cheap.

Personally I think this phone would be a great alternative for people who are put off by the droids ugliness (at least with the Devours slick looking silver color) and completely unusable physical qwerty. With as awesome as the Droid is I passed on it because it was impossible to type on and touchscreen typing is frustrating for me and others too. Basic needs come first and if you cant text or send an email because you mash a million keys at once then what's the point? This one seems to be an improvement in the physical qwertyand looks and is running android 2.1 (i think id have to recheck the specs what can I say I fight people about their bills all day rather than work with equipment a lot like tech) so I dont see too many areas so far where its lacking too much more than its big brother though I understand it may not be as fully-equipped. Far more excited about this than either the eris or droid.
