Deal: Samsung lets you buy the Galaxy S8 Active for $699.99 ($150 off)

Officially announced yesterday, the rugged Samsung Galaxy S8 Active can be pre-ordered in the US as of today - only on AT&T for now. The smartphone can be purchased both from AT&T, and from Samsung's website, and should start shipping later this week, on August 11.

If you're getting the S8 Active from Samsung, you can save $150, as the company is offering the handset for $699.99 (instead of AT&T's $849.99 outright price). Samsung also lets you buy the Galaxy S8 Active for $29.17 per month for 24 months ($700.08 in total) with Samsung Financing - in case you don't want to pay the full price upfront.

Later this year, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will probably be available unlocked, and maybe also on other carriers, as AT&T has exclusivity over the device only "for a limited time." If you want to find out more about the new handset, here's how the Galaxy S8 Active compares to the regular Galaxy S8 (and other relevant high-end smartphones).

This is a nice option to get it directly from Samsung so there's no carrier bloatware on the device.

It’s still an AT&T device so all bloatware will be intact. Only the unlocked versions are free of carrier junk.

And your speaking for? The active phones are the most underrated phones each year. And I think demand is always good for these....hence the reason they make them each year. And why ATT pays to have them exclusive.

Agreed this is a huge seller for AT&T. I did read this year that AT&T exclusivity may be only for a limited time. I wonder which other carriers may get it?

Worked for Verizon, EVERY year we had people coming in asking about if Verizon would carry the phone.

Why do people think this phone is so pointless? It's a flat and shatter-proof screen (with no glass back), 1000mAh+, no case needed Galaxy S8. To me, that's better than a regular S8 any day of the week.

What's it like having your head as your rear? I live in a military heavy town and I can tell you that many of the soldiers prefer the Active because of longer battery life and they don't have to worry about it shattering if dropped. This phone isn't for a prissy girl like you who uses their phone as a status symbol.

Android phones go on sale all the time, so do other devices. IPad Pro is $250 off at Verizon right now, is it because no one wants it? Of course not.
