Don't touch your phone, or the tree gets it! Forest is a unique app for focus and motivation

Developer: forestapp.ccDownload: Android, iOS
Genre: ProductivityPrice: Free (with ads)

We're not great believers in the concept of productivity apps, but stuff like Get S*it Done and Forest happens to backed by amusing concepts that make overpowering procrastination all the more worthwhile. Forest begins with planting a lil' tree which starts to grow in the span of 30 minutes.

During this time, you're not supposed to be touching your phone. If you do as much as launch a game, take a phone call, or press the "Give Up" button, your budding tree dies... just like that. The weirdest part of it all is that you care for this inanimate, digital plant organism. You know it was only your fault that the tree you planted never came to be! If only you could discipline yourself and stay away from your smartphone for the full 30 minutes, you would have seen your tree grow, go to school, and become a lawyer!

Okay, that last bit was a little far-fetched, but like we said in the beginning, Forest is darn fun. Whether it really makes anyone more productive depends on the device that's behind the screen, but as a concept, the app is totally cool!

Forest: Stay Focused is a free download on Android and iOS.

You plant it before you go to sleep.

It'd be cool if you slowly built a forest and you got to watch your progress.

Humans need apps to not touch a phone? Such stupidity. Better go out and actually plant a tree.
