First Xperia XZs camera samples from Sony's new 'Motion Eye' camera

All eyes might have been on the grand new 4K phone by Sony at MWC - the XZ Premium - but there were three other phones announced, and one of them has all the makings of a hit handset.

The new Xperia XZs comes in a very pocketable and palm-friendly size with a 5.2" 1080p display, but it's one pretty little monster, too, with a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4 GB RAM, stereo speakers, waterproof certification, and Sony's new 19 MP sensor that does super slow-mo 960fps video.

That is the same "Motion Eye" camera that is in the XZ Premium, so one can expect the same splendid results. We snapped a few quick indoor photos at the show floor with the 19 MP Xperia XZs camera, and these below are the results, though we won't comment on any virtues before we get a retail unit for review. These are the full-size samples straight from the camera which are quite large, so be patient while they load.

I don't mind a little noise, personally I found detailed smudged a little but over all nice samples, colour rendering, dynamic range.

Lmao. Looks like the whole image is noise in those samples. Hopefully it's not that way in the final product because if you're branding something premium you expect to have a camera that's well above mediocre in a well lit environment.

MWC is not a 'well lit environment'.

In what world is that a "Well Lit Environment"? Those are Low Light shots. Judging by colour rendering, contrast, focus and highlight management, they're pretty good Low Light shots. That some detail has been smoothed at a 200% crop is a little disappointing but for anything less than blowing the image up to billboard size they're spot on.

As I expected my vision has come to fruition. Sony has cut the g6 with it's katana blade rendering it old and has only one opposing enemy known as Samsung. The camera in this phone was carved by 1000 Japanese swords-smith. Perfection has been born.

The Phonearena gallery is cumbersome. Why change it?

This new gallery work horribly on my phone. I am unable to see pictures. PA should bring back the good old style.
