UPDATED: Samsung Instinct HD caught on tape
This article has been updated on September 25.

The Samsung Instinct HD was announced just yesterday and the first video preview of it has already popped on YouTube. The video reveals that the device will provide access to popular social networks like Facebook, My Space, Twitter and YouTube. In case you don't know what the phone is all about we'll give you a quick reminder.. Compared to the original Instinct, the screen has now grown a bit to 3.2 inches and the WQGVA resolution has been scrapped in favor of the higher HVGA (320x480) res. The camera has also gone a few big steps further from the 2-megapixel unit on the original. It is now 5-megapixel and can record HD videos in 1280x720 pixels, which can then be watched on an auxiliary HD capable device, thanks to the phone's HDMI connector. Unfortunately, the camera and TV out features weren't covered in the video., The handset will be available for purchase from BestBuy starting this Monday for $249.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a 2-year contract with Sprint.

Samsung Instinct HD Specifications

Thanks, Taylor!

*Update*: We just got contacted by Best Buy Mobile and it seems they are already selling the phone. Even more surprisingly, they told us the price is actually set to $199.99 with a two-year contract and after some instant rebates! So, there you have it - the Instinct HD has just gotten a bit more affordable.

So far, watching this video the only two disappointing things I see is that the accelerometer doesn't automatically change the keyboard from landscape to portrait. The other is it seems when the keyboard is in portrait it is still in abcd layout, I was hoping it would go to a large buttoned number pad with t9 prediction. That seems like it would work best for me. But I might be in the minority. Even with having had my rant yesterday I'll still be getting this phone. I really enjoyed the ui on the S30 and being it is supposed to be lightly upgraded for the hd, I'll take it!

$199 after a $50 mail in rebait, that should have been the price. But the price point might be the impact of Sprint lowering their rates. Besides the HD [which you need additional add-ons to have the exprience], it's another feature phone...meh

@ Artz1986 Best buy actually has it for $199 with all rebates instant. No Mail in rebate at all. Also, it uses an industry mini-hdmi connector. Monoprice has a 6 ft cable available for under $6. @Doakie Not sure what's going on with his video, but the one I picked up yesterday at best buy...the accelerometer does change the keyboard automatically when you rotate the phone 90 degrees in either direction. Yes the ABCD portrait keyboard is still a disappointment A numerical keyboard with T-9 built in would absolutely have been a worthwhile change there as you mention.

LOL...so I'm cursed. I've spent approximately 3 hours(including today) talking to Sprint Customer Service over the last 2 months regarding me losing my eligibility for 2 year upgrade due to an issue at the warehouse when someone incorrectly processed a return handset. Well I talked to Telesales again for like 45 mins today, the day after the Instinct HD launched. I finally got them to reset my 2 yr eligibility status. First thing, let me tell you I've been waiting for the "M850" "Samsung Dash" "Instinct Deuce" or whatever you want to call it for the last 5 months. I started thinking to myself "WOOHOO, I'll be able to get the phone from Best Buy now! For $200 out the door insted of the $250 after $100 rebate Sprint wanted!" I went to Best Buy, waited to talk to a rep, just to find out...Best Buy doesn't sell Sprint phones in Washington State.....So......I'm stuck waiting for Oct 11 because Sprint doesn't have anyone in Washington state who sells Instinct HDs yet, checked other Best Buy stores, and the local corporate Sprint stores, and asked Telesales(they never even heard of the Instinct HD). You think when they agreed to a exclusivity period with Best Buy they would think of including the whole USA being that Best Buy Mobile doesnt serve Sprint to the whole country. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get an Instinct HD without having to wait till OCT 11? And I'm not driving 5 hours to get to a different state who Best Buy does sell them in.
