The Kuke iPhone 7 battery case could be a smarter choice than Apple's bulging monstrosity

Remember Apple's own iPhone battery case? You probably don't want to. That one was a winner in off-putting aesthetics. It's the sole modern-era Apple product that nobody of note ever copied, which speaks volumes. So what do you do if you want an iPhone 7 battery case that's not an utter eyesore? Usually, one gets whatever Mophie has in store, but other interesting alternatives to Mo's generally solid products do show up from time to time.

The Kuke, for example, looks quite promising – it's a sturdy case that packs a 2400mAh backup battery and a microSD slot for up to 256GB of additional storage. Despite that, it keeps the added bulk to a reasonable amount, it doesn't make the iPhone taller or give it awkward bulges. Quite the contrary, its design is uniform and elegant. All in all, the Kuke looks like an intelligent compromise between style, protection, and functionality – the kind of product that obvious thought was poured into.

We haven't tested one and we cannot outright recommend it, but if you are on the lookout for an iPhone battery case, we won't hesitate to point you in Kuke's direction and check it out. Starting at $55, the case is being sold in Black and White and it's available for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The manufacturer has models for the iPhone 6 (6+) and 6s (6s+) available as well – in fact, they've caught our eye before. And don't worry about occupying the Lighting port – the case has a pass-through for it so you can connect your charger, cable, or Lighting earbuds to it, no questions asked.
