HTC DROID Incredible saves a man's life by taking a bullet for its owner
How many times have you heard someone describe their smartphone as a lifesaver?  Of course, the comment wasn't meant literally, just a way to describe how important the functions of a smartphone have become in our everyday lives. On the other hand, there is the story of John Garber of Atlanta.

The valet, who works at Club Halo in the city, was shot at after some patrons of the nightclub were kicked out. One shot pierced Garber's coat and would have done some serious damage, but the battery on his HTC DROID Incredible stopped the bullet. The phone was in his breast pocket. The shooters were busted by the cops and HTC earned a lifetime of loyalty from John Garber who says he will never switch to another cell phone manufacturer.

The Incredible has a red battery? Looks like an EVO battery to me.

I think that the Incredible has a red back (as in under the battery door) so it would probably have a red battery

Both the inside of the phone and the battery are indeed red.

Yes the Incredible has a Red interior, including the battery.

This reminds me of the Motorola Droid that exploded on some guys's ear... So HTC saves you, while Motorola kills you?

It is an HTC Evo. Go to CNN.COM and watch the story.

Your right, it was an EVO, he bought it from our Best Buy Mobile store. Our manager looked at it, and we knew who he was. We swapped it out for him. He was such a humble dude, he didn't want any attention at all.

15. Itzatlas posted on 09 Jan 2011, 13:05 1

At Engaget it says that it was an Evo not Incredible. I believe it was the Incredible though because it IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16. cmdpapichulo (unregistered) posted on 09 Jan 2011, 14:17

I just checked CNN it was an HTC Evo so they need to get there facts straight before posting another model phone in the Title ....but yes the incredible and the evo have the same battery there are basically the same phone minus a few feature and size

That's why touchscreen phones suck. They're all the same. No innovations on design, be it iPhone, N8, or Xperia Arc, they're hardly diffferent.

20. Schmao posted on 10 Jan 2011, 10:15

First of all you are ridiculous. Second, you're wrong. There are innovations. Third, you can say that about everything, if you have idiotic thinking like this.
You probably can't afford something with a touch screen. So you're jealous. Your comment is so aggravating...

HTC does make fantastic phones. Though I wonder how my Droid X might've fared. (imagines my X being usable after the incident)

19. Roshan (unregistered) posted on 09 Jan 2011, 21:30

Engadget has the same story but said it was an HTC Evo, not Incredible. The batteries in these two phones are the same except for the Evo coming with 1500mAh and the Incredible coming with 1300mAh.

21. Schmao posted on 10 Jan 2011, 10:16

So, just wondering, how are the batteries the same?
