AT&T cranks the handle, presses the button and turns on MMS for the iPhone 3G/3GS
It took some time, but iPhone 3G and 3GS owners now have MMS capabilities on the device. Complete directions on changing the carrier settings on your phone, which is necessary to get MMS up and running, can be found at the source link.  No more punching in a code to view a picture sent to your handset. Now your iconic iPhone 3G(S) has an application that can be found on some of the most basic, entry-level models. Time for us to see how well AT&T's network holds up under the years of pent up demand for this function.

Works for me. Receiving is a little delayed but probably because everyone is testing it out... I hope AT&T's network can handle it!

2. knuckleballer34 posted on 25 Sep 2009, 14:04

Two posts in two days for this...sheesh. How many posts will there be once the delays begin?

3. iLexus posted on 25 Sep 2009, 14:20

LOL! probably 50!

4. iLexus posted on 25 Sep 2009, 14:21

Mines is not working. I try sending the picture and it just hangs in sending mode for about 2 minutes then gives me error message and don't send...

5. iTony523 posted on 25 Sep 2009, 14:49

probably too much people are trying it and at&t's network can't handle it. Sorry dude.

Did you update to 3.1?

7. vzw fanman posted on 25 Sep 2009, 15:33

at&t's network can't take all the little kids trying to send naked pictures of themselves to others.

8. VZWemployee89 posted on 25 Sep 2009, 16:33

it's the AT&T network. it could barely support the phone before it had this capability. This is the beginning of the downfall of AT&T. :-)

WORKING FINE NOW!!!! Didn't at first then all of a sudden everybody pics started coming through. OK, the coolest part is not only the photo has excellent picture quaility in the text message mode and it's huge while in text mode, when you click on the picutre it automatically goes to full screen mode and lets you scroll to all the pictures that user ever sent you, for instance 7 months from now I can scroll down to that user text message and by the press of my finger in text mode I can just press the picture and it would let me scroll all the pictures that user sent me in the past 7 months are ever sent me. How cool is that? Why no one else havent thought of that? Apple did it again, this is by far the best MMS device ever. +10 Apple PS. I also forgot to mention videos...

dude what are you talking about yeah it the network but they just put billions of dollars towards it (who know how long it takes though lol) by the way AT&T will be taking over the world in the end it might not be celluar business but everything else will make up for it

12. DOGIEFRESH posted on 25 Sep 2009, 21:37

VZW would't handle that eather they're runing CDMA wich is inferior compares to HSPA, so eat that fanboy

13. logpace posted on 25 Sep 2009, 21:48

you are an idiot dogiefresh. cdma has nothing to do with it. it is bandwidth and verizon already has 8 million more users and is having no problems what so ever

15. PapaJay224 posted on 26 Sep 2009, 13:03

wow DOG...Stupid information that isnt true mixed with an insullt from a stupid person just doesnt make you look that great. VZW FTW

16. AZNphoneGeek posted on 26 Sep 2009, 13:38

just what you need, a buggy phone thyat freezes AND can't send pic mail bwahaha

17. DOGIEFRESH posted on 26 Sep 2009, 14:18

It isn't bandwith matter, the truth is HSPA is way superior than CDMA no matter how many towers VZW has around the corner still CAN'T COMPETE period, unfortunally for you guys your FANBOYISH doesn't let you see the reality.....is not my fault that all of you have redneck brains...!!!!

18. knuckleballer34 posted on 26 Sep 2009, 15:34

There's no way you can justify these statements. At&t and T-Mobile's 3G services run on a variant of CDMA that optimizes it's given spectrum. Check your sources and information before posting these melodramatically opinionated comments.

apple didn't do anything. att finally stepped up and gave their customers this "innovative" feature that everyone else has had for years... i can hear the coffin slamming shut on them since their network can't handle this simple feature

20. DOGIEFRESH posted on 26 Sep 2009, 17:11

Ok cellphone tech guru prove me and the rest of the world that choose HSPA over CDMA that we're wrong

21. DOGIEFRESH posted on 26 Sep 2009, 17:17

Dude check on wikepedia and compare, even a caveman can do it jejeje is free, and btw name one single carrier in the world that switch from HSPA to CDMA and that's a fact.....!!!!!

23. knuckleballer34 posted on 27 Sep 2009, 16:07

Prove to me that your right then. Wikipedia? That's not an scholarly source of information, any bozo can go and put whatever he/she likes on that website. It should be fairly easy to comprehend; 3G networks on GSM run on W-CDMA, otherwise known as HSPA. Your bashing the same thing that your touting. By the way, since when were you the end all be all of cellular knowledge? Even wikipedia is more accurate

24. DOGIEFRESH posted on 27 Sep 2009, 19:03

Dude first of all 3GSM is a complete different network type, HSPA is based on W-CDMA, and that has nothing to do with CDMA-EVDO they share some sort of compatibility on the first generation of CDMA2000 but that's it, does't mean is the same, maybe you foled some people in this post but not somebody who knows this stuff more than you......Just to give u an example HSPA is voice and data capable simultanously, CDMA is eather data or voice, so tell me the similarity between both you fanboy swagger......!!!!!!

25. DOGIEFRESH posted on 27 Sep 2009, 19:09

I'll give some very good sources take a note so maybe one day u break out free of ur ignorance: gsmworld.com; cnet.com; gsmarena.com, good luck.....!!!!

26. knuckleballer34 posted on 27 Sep 2009, 19:17

How can I take someone seriously who doesn't understand the validity of their own sources? They are both CDMA in one form or another. That's just the fact. This is my last comment towards this subject. You obviously are not competent enough to carry on a reasonable conversation with anyone. By the way...my ignorance? I'm currently working on a Ph.D

27. DOGIEFRESH posted on 28 Sep 2009, 00:00

HEY HOMEBOY I DO SELL CELLPHONES I SPEAK WITH PROPERTY U PROVABLY PH.D IN NASCAR MAYBE BUT NOT ON THIS.......SORRY BUT U HAVE NO POINT ON THI TOPIC.......!!!!!!

11. AZNphoneGeek posted on 25 Sep 2009, 19:11

you know whats great? if their 3G network can't even handle iphone data use, can you imagine whats gonna happen to the network when dumbphone users start using data for pics? bwahahahaha. sad day AT&T. ever heard of somebody with an AT&T broadband card bragging about how fast it is or how well the coverage is?

14. behold--me posted on 26 Sep 2009, 11:12

sorry but the only thing i have to say is ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

22. ddripp posted on 27 Sep 2009, 00:12

Wow... there's a lot of att/apple haters here. and what's so funny is that these VZW stupid customers are always crying on iphone posts. Too bad apple will NOT sign any contract with vzw anytime soon... so all u stupid/jack ass that have vzw balls stuck in throat, guess what? You guys still have a lot more yrs left to cry like a little girls on the school yard
