Yahoo introduces Livestand, a reading app for the iPad
Yahoo has finally made a move to allow more comfortable reading of its news contents than just browsing to the website. Livestand is an iPad app available for free on iTunes in the US and delivers content from not only its Sports, News, Finance, Flickr, omg!, and the Yahoo Contributor Network properties, but also from over 100 publishers like Forbes, ABC News and Bonnier.
One notable thing about the reading experience on Livestand is that it's going to be personalized for users. Livestand is a “digital newsstand that’s always fresh and effortlessly personalized,” Yahoo explains.
First, its segmented into arts and culture, business and finance, sports and technology. But the key content generator is Yahoo Today, a section containing all top stories in five categories and also 12 featured pages. Overall, the app looks somewhat similar to iPad's own Newsstand which aggregates content from various sources.
